On this week's Ohio Ag Net Podcast, Ty Higgins visits with first generation farmer Brent Pence from New Carlisle, Ohio about how he got his start, some tough times early on in his career and how the farm is set up for today's challenges. Joel Penhorwood recaps last weekend's Spring Dairy Expo with Kris Ackley from Logan County, who had quite a successful show this year. And Matt Reese catches up with Darcy Vetter at the National Institute of Animal Agriculture Meeting in Columbus. Vetter served as the Chief Agriculture Negotiator for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and gives some insights of ag trade today and some key points for ag trade to be successful in the future.

This week's podcast is all about the recent trip make by farmers from Ohio, including Ohio's Country Journal Editor Matt Reese, to lend a helping hand and deliver much needed supplies to farmers and ranchers who were hit hard by devastating wildfires that took homes, livestock and hay from a big chunk of America's heartland.

Matt recaps his journey with conversations with the ranch manager they helped mend fences with, a local veterinarian that has been busy taking care of other ranches before he could worry about his own and also a visit with the crew of Ohioans that took Matt along for the ride.

In this episode, the crew has a roundtable discussion including the recent Ohio Farm Bureau Washington D.C. County Presidents' Trip, a good turnout at the Ohio Beef Expo, speculation on the beginning of planting season, the importance of sunscreen on a bald head, and a look ahead to a trip by Ohioans out west to provide relief for farmers affected by the recent grassland wildfires. Ty Higgins is also joined by Ohio State Extension Specialist John Grimes from the Ohio Beef Expo with an in-depth talk on cattle and the industry both today and down the road.

In this week's Ohio Ag Net Podcast, Joel Penhorwood checks in from his first trip on the Ohio Farm Bureau County Presidents journey to Washington D.C. He and his round-table of guests, including Rob Leeds, Tyler Duncan, Rose Hartschuh and Michelle Abfall talk about the issues covered this week with Ohio representatives inside the beltway and some highlights from the trek.

Dale Minyo caught up with Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David Daniels, which was hard to do this week with the Director zig zagging around the state touting Ohio's #1 industry during Ag Week.

And Ty Higgins calls up Latham Farley. Farley farms in Englewood, Ohio and he, along with a big group of farmers from all across Ohio will be taking supplies like hay, fencing and milk replacer to farmers and ranchers in need after wildfires ravaged parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. The whole crew comes together for the first Ohio Ag Net podcast. In this episode, host Joel Penhorwood talks the hottest issues in agriculture through a roundtable discussion with the entire group, including Dale Minyo, Ty Higgins, Matt Reese, and Bart Johnson.
