Old Gamer’s Almanac

This week Matt and Hunter commemorate a very special game that has been a white whale for this podcast from the beginning. Await with bated breath as we find out whether or not this JRPG is finally the one that Matt finds himself enjoying, will it score higher than FF7? The only way to find out is by listening!

Special thanks to Exothermic for joining in on this special episode.

We've got Hunter and Sun this week with a long overdue episode about the second part in the Final Fantasy 7 remake project: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth! We got pretty in-depth in this discussion and you should expect spoilers to happen but we do mention when it's spoiler time and be warned we do ruin the ending of the game so do not listen past that point if you don't want that! Thanks for being patient for this episode my friends, it's been a wild year full of changes.

This week we're talking about an old fun weird platformer, DYNAMITE HEADDY! This game was developed by Treasure which is a personal fave of this show and it's got a lot of charm and was quite fun to play. Listen to Matt, Hunter, and EJ as they chat about what they got out of this under-loved Sega Genesis game! We finish up with some discussion about the upcoming RETRO GAMES TOURNAMENT which you can check out if you head over to our Patreon.

We've got Hunter, EJ, and Alec aka "Root" today on to talk about the multiplayer sensation that is HELLDIVERS 2. This game is a whole lot of fun to play with your buds and it's got some real solidly executed comedy underneath. We also go into the drama zone and talk about some of the missteps sony has taken along the way. Hunter also makes fun of the critical response to last week's episode but remember that he loves you. ;)

We're back on our 1994 game! This episode we catch up on what Electronic Gaming Monthly was up to over the summer of '94 and we announce our patreon retro game tournament which will be coming to the community and we'll be streaming it this October! We also talk a bit about Mortal Kombat 2 which is a game that was heavily featured in all the magazines but is not really our cup of tea by any stretch of the imagination.

We're near the end of OGA Summer Break, and EJ and Matt got to sit down one final time together to talk about another game that EJ has sunk MANY hours into: Wildermyth. You might have forgotten that this game even came out a couple of years ago, but EJ sure didn't. And remembering stuff about the game is like half of the game. (That's a good joke that will make sense once we explain what this even is...)
