Old Gamer’s Almanac

Hunter and Sun are back with the hottest game of 2023, BG3!!! About a year late to the conversation let's find out what the boys think about the coolest game of last year. Do they love it? Yes. Does Hunter spend too much time critiquing it? Also yes!

Matt and EJ are back with some more sweet games from 2022, which seem to be filling up our summer break episodes. The Case of the Golden Idol seemed right up our alley and sometimes things are exactly what they seem. More importantly, this was a delightfully tricky puzzle game that didn't take a ton of time to complete!

Hunter and Sun are back with even more Final Fantasy! Our preparation for Final Fantasy 6 is now complete but don't sleep on V! We really liked this game and our conversation about it proved to be much more exciting than anticipated, this game is great and people should stop sleepin' on it. Sorry about the audio quality there were some problems!

Another episode of the show featuring neither of the usual hosts! Matt and Hunter are nowhere to be found and instead we've got EJ and Alec aka "Root" sitting down to talk about the rougelike deck-building game, Slay the Spire! It's a big one folks.

Summer Tour continues and for the first time ever Matt and Sun are running the show together. They've been wanting to play Pentiment together for a long time and they still didn't manage to play it together or even fully finish it, but there's still so much to talk about!

Hunter and Sun are back with a newish game from one of the weirdest guys to do it, Sam Barlow. This discussion has like a whole bunch of SPOILERS so do not listen to it if that bothers you. Definitely watch a trailer though because this game is very pretty and visually interesting so I encourage you to check it out or just listen to us dive into it if you are immune to spoilers. Sun also talks about : https://eternal.tv/ which you should check out .

We're talking a very classic game today, one that stands tall over a lot of games that we care about on this show. This one broke a lot of ground and old heads will think fondly of it forever. Do millennials like it though? If so, how much? Today we speak for an entire generation of game playin' individuals.

Summer Tour continues with Matt and EJ talking about their shared interest in more simulation games! We've reveled in the bygone days of Roller Coaster Tycoon, now listen as we talk about the modern era with Cities: Skylines. This game is perhaps more relaxing just to watch than it is to play and THAT'S OKAY. It can still be one of your favorite games even if you've never played more than 5 hours of it yourself...

It's Off-Topic Summer, and this week it's Matt and EJ's turn! EJ has long been alluding to his complicated and troubling experience with 2022's Tunic, which is a game Matt has been deeply interested in since it's release. So this was the perfect chance to unpack all of that and enjoy a delightful puzzle/action game!
