  • Ep. 13: Alabama Snake: Religion, Relationships, Murder, and Booze
Original Publish Date: Dec 16, 2020 Misty doesn't always preach but when she does, it's because we've watched the new documentary called Alabama Snakes.  This is what happens when an obscure church, a violent man, and a lot of alcohol collide.  I mean the documentary, not Misty and Amarilys.  We've missed you, friends! We're back and excited to hear ourselves talk again.

  • Ep. 10: Cuddle feat. writer/director Jason O'Brien
Original Publish Date: August 4, 2020 Maybe you're like us when we heard about Cuddle (2014) and thought that it was an insanely crazy idea.  But this documentary uncovers a new industry that isn't what you think it is and in fact, has many benefits.
    .
    .
We were privileged to be joined by writer/director Jason O'Brien who was kind enough to help us understand this movement to the point that our minds were changed from where we began.
    .
    .
Jason is a local filmmaker who is creating beautiful work and we are so grateful for his time.
    .
    .
Cuddle can be found on Kanopy, on DVD, and soon on Amazon Prime.

  • Ep. 9: Jasper Mall feat. directors Bradford Thomason & Brett Whitcomb
Original Publish Date: July 27, 2020 This week Misty and Amarilys tackled a film chosen strictly for its location, Jasper Mall.  The film documents a year in the life of a dying mall.  Let's just say that we are big fans.
    .
    .
This mall isn't just a building  It's home to 25 years worth of business for a local florist, home to a young couple's courtship, home to an aging man's last years, and home for memories of people and events gone by.  It's almost living and breathing and at this time, is holding on for dear life.
    .
    .
We were privileged to speak with writers/producers/directors Bradford Thomason and Brett Whitcomb and are grateful for their time.  It was a great chat and honestly, we had another hour's worth of questions but didn't want to push our luck . Moral of the story is this:  WATCH JASPER MALL.
    .
    .
Available on all Video on Demand platforms including iTunes and Amazon Prime and if you're anywhere within driving distance of Jasper, go visit and support the local merchants.  They sure could use it. . Find Jasper Mall on Twitter:  @jaspermall

  • Ep. 8: Catfish
Original Publish Date: July 20, 2020 We went old school this week with a documentary from 2010 that exposed deception on the internet and gave it the cute name "Catfish."  Nev Schulman, Ariel Schulman, and Henry Joost document the relationship between Nev and 8 year old wunderkind, Abby.  Abby paints canvases of Nev's beautiful photography and sends them to him as gifts.  Nev soon develops relationships with Abby's mother and a romantic relationship with Abby's 19 year old sister.  But is everyone who they say they are?
    .
    .
This is a fascinating look at life on the internet and how easily we can build a world that appears perfect when the reality is much different.

  • Ep. 7: Abducted In Plain Sight
Original Publish Date: July 13, 2020 Grab a giant sedative, perhaps also an extra one and then click play as we discuss one mind blowing detail after another in this story.  You will be screaming at us by the time it's done and you will likely not believe that this is a true story.  This is longer than our usual recordings but there was SO MUCH to cover we couldn't stop chatting.  It's the craziest thing we've ever heard and incredibly heartbreaking for the years of innocence and living stolen from a sweet family and a beautiful young girl.

  • Ep. 5: Tiger King Part 1: The Characters
Original Publish Date: June 30, 2020 Tiger King took the world by storm just as quarantine began and served as a uniting force in the midst of an unprecedented trial. In this episode, Misty and Amarilys set the stage for the murder-for-hire+ story by talking about the main characters.  You'll hear all about that B Carole Baskin, all the loves of Joe Exotic's life, a man with tattooed metal legs, and all the other citizens of Crazy Tigerland.
    .
    .
In next week's On The Doc episode, we will hash out the adventures of all these people but in the meantime, get to know the people of Tiger King.
    .
    .
Programming note:  Misty and Amarilys are just two Southern Baptist girls from Alabama who always try to be respectful of everyone regardless of sex, age, race, religion, sexual preference, etc.  In this episode, they refer to Saff as "he" because Saff has been on the record as preferring to use that pronoun.  Please take no offense if they revert to "she" on accident occasionally during the discussion.  They're just trying to keep up with culture and still be mindful of everyone's perspectives and beliefs.  No disrespect intended to ANYONE on any side of the issue.

Aileen Wuronos is known as the first female serial killer.  She was  put to death in the electric chair in 2002 after being convicted of a  number of murders in Florida.  Listen as Misty and Amarilys talk about  how Wuornos was taken advantage of in order to profit from her murders  and subsequent convictions.
Yet among the tragedy there is a bizarro world of a singing lawyer, a  permed adopted mother, and a human cannonball.  We wish we were  kidding.
