Once More WIth Feeling

The Watchers gathered for Revalations.

The cat is out of the bag about Angel. Faith’s new watcher is in town, and she’s very concerned about the McGuffin. Twists and turns and manipulation. Xander is both horrible and not-horrible in this ep. Xillow continues to not be terribly believable. Angel mysteriously knows things. The McGuffin is not terribly impressive

The watchers gather for Beauty and the Beasts, a Jekyll and Hyde story that completely failed to display any subtly at all. Xander is in the dog house for sleeping on duty. Someone is killed by a beast and we don’t know if it was werewolf Oz, Angel, or maybe the new guy, Pete.

We also talk about changing male standards of attractiveness in the last 20 years.

The Watchers Gathered for the introduction of the new Slayer, Faith, in Faith, Hope, and Trick. It’s a super important episode, so of course we talked about Fear the Walking Dead, fashion, Scott, and Buffy’s confirmed status as an only child.

Oh, yeah, and a naked Angel falls out of the sky at the end.

The Watchers gathered for Dead Man’s Party. Buffy is saved from the awkwardness of her return by a zombie attack. There’s a horrible dead cat, a Jonathan sighting, teenagers invading a dinner party, Giles channels Ripper a little bit, and we talk about our expectations of friends.

The Watchers are back! And Buffy is back, too. She’s living in a bad part of probably-LA and trying to disappear.

We talk about our high school experiences with grades, the nutritional value of cake v. pie, the preferred method for being hit by a car, the portrayal of social workers

The Watchers gathered for “Becoming” the two-part finale to Buffy Season 2. Liam becomes Angel, Buffy becomes strong enough to kill Angel, Spike becomes friends with Joyce, Kendra becomes dead, Dru becomes a hypnotist, Xander becomes less trustworthy (though we all agree we would be friends with Xander if we knew him). Also, we universally don’t like Whistler and universally love Spike.

The Watchers gathered for Go Fish and weren’t really happy about it. WentworthMiller is the bright, shining star emerging from the sewers of this episode (at least until he dives into them). We love you Wentworth! There’s a Jonathan sighting, we discuss bicep curls, and CW: casual misogyny and sexual assault.

The Watchers gathered for Killed by Death – in which we discover that Slayers can get sick. Buffy sees a terrifying monster that no one else can. It’s killing sick kids, just like Buffy’s childhood friend. This episode is creepy!

Are the stars out tonight
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright
I only have eyes for you dear
Sha bop sha bop - The Flamingos, 1959

The Watchers gathered for I Only Have Eyes for You. A pair of ghosts are haunting Sunnydale high, reliving over and over again the tragic end to their love story. The fact that it was a female teacher and a male student is troubling, and, in fact, there’s several troubling aspects to this episode.  Ultimately, it’s sweet and sad and if it doesn’t bring tears to your eyes, you might be a vampire.
