Once More WIth Feeling

The Watchers gathered for The Dark Age, the second episode to feature Gile’s old friend Ethan Rayne. We learn more about Giles’ past as Ripper and watch his relationship build with Jenny.

The Watchers talk about a lot of things, including whether shorts count as pants, Robin Sach’s [Ethan] spectacular biceps, our frustration with what they’ve done with Jenny’s character, becoming an adult, dumb things we do when we’re 20, and that validation is good for everyone.

The Watchers gathered for Halloween, a bright shining point of light of joy and happiness after the last couple episodes.

This episode is significant in several ways, introducing Ethan Rayne, Larry, and Giles past as Ripper. Also, Xander’s knowledge of soldiery things and Allison Hannigan’s most excellent abdomen.

The Watchers also share some Halloween memories of their own. Be warned – one of these memories is super disturbing. Apparently….

Also, I promise we were not playing with bubble wrap while recording. In a totally unrelated note, Mini Reeses cups are banned from further recording.

I'm a metaphor

The watchers gathered for Reptile Boy.

Woof.

This one goes to eleven.

A cautionary tale about college boys and accepting drinks from strange men, also about letting Cordelia talk you into anything or making decisions because you’re mad at your vampiric non-boyfriend. Also, an extremely unsubtle metaphor. We’re mad at Xander again, but hey… we spotted the guy who did that “Shoes” video.

Also, Virgil the cat bumps the microphone then expresses his opinion on being removed from the room.

The watchers gathered for Inca Mummy Girl. Best thing about this episode? Introduction of Oz and introduction of his interest in Willow (he's gonna break your heart, Willow!).

More, “Oh, Xander” discussions. How NOT to eat Twinkies. We discuss the actual girl Ampata was probably based on and sacrificial rituals which include a ton of drugs, booze, and food.

The Watchers gathered for…

OMG SPIKE!

It’s Blondie Bear! He’s HERE!

…ahem.

The Watchers gathered for School Hard. This episode is great for a lot of reasons, most notably the introduction of Spike and Drucilla and the end of The Anointed One. We discuss awkward ways to touch your beloved, why you would pick your two most troublesome students for a special event, and “Why is Sheila?”

Also… we really love Spike.

Buffy’s take on Bride of Frankenstein was not our favorite episode. We talk about dress codes and 90’s fashion (seriously, you guys, this isn’t a podcast about dress codes and 90’s fashion – despite all evidence to the contrary), and ways this episode of Buffy could have been better.

The Watchers gathered for the premier of Buffy Season 2, “When She Was Bad.” Listen, when Cordelia is lecturing you about being a bitch… you’re being a bitch. Topics include inappropriate flirtation and those really horrible pants Cordi was wearing in the last scene. Also, Virgil Circles the cat becomes a Watcher initiate by rubbing on the microphone.

The Watchers gatherered for the Buffy Season One finale, Prophecy Girl.

Buffy doesn’t want to be Xander’s date to the dance and Willow doesn’t want to be Xander’s consolation prize. Buffy overhears Angel and Giles discussing the prophecy that she’s going to die. Cordelia is earning points towards her Slayerette badge. And we have thoughts about all of this.

Also, never ever use Xander’s CPR technique. It’s bad.

The watchers gathered for Out of Mind, Out of Sight, a story about a girl so overlooked at Sunnydale that she became invisible. And then started hunting people.

Even the Watcher’s loyal hound Maddox had opinions about this episode.
