Oregon Football is now hoping Dan Lanning's coaching career will follow a similar trajectory after getting blasted over the weekend in Atlanta in his coaching debut. How things feel in week 1-2 are rarely how they are portrayed by fans at the end of the year.

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin deals with the fallout from a 49-3 loss over the weekend to the Georgia Bulldogs. Chip Kelly's first game as Oregon's HC ended in abject disaster beyond the 19-8 loss on the field to Boise St, Nick Saban lost to UL-Monroe, and over the weekend Brian Kelly's debut with LSU was a very sloppy loss--specifically on special teams. Week 1 of a season is best suited for observations, not conclusions--which is why the confidence that Duck fans had entering 2022 should still mostly be in tact.

Was there anything encouraging for Duck fans to hold on to from the weekend heading into a week 2 matchup with Eastern Washington? The running back room has depth, the offensive line (mostly) held up against the best defensive front they will see all year, and the special teams looked improved from a week ago. Did anything else look encouraging for the 2022 season?
