Chris Lavis is the Montreal-based writer, director and animator behind the Oscar-nominated stop-motion film The Girl Who Cried Pearls. The 17-minute animated short is a modern-day fable about a poor boy in Montreal who finds himself caught between love and greed after falling for a girl who cries pearls.
