Otago university's warning a student could be killed or seriously harmed in flat initiations that can quickly lead to bullying, intimidation and harassment. And it's written to flats it knows are planning the rituals saying it will launch serious misconduction investigations into any activities that include nudity, assault and or bodily fluids. Authorities are already investigating claims live eels were used as part of the hazing rituals. And today's Otago Daily Times reported two women were forced to strip to their underwear and had their 'fat' circled with markers and were called "piggies" as part of their initiation. But in North Dunedin, students had mixed opinions about initiations those wanting to join a flat are put through. Tess Brunton has more.
