Our Daily Walk with Jesus

The Parable of the Unjust Steward, from Luke sixteen, asks a sharp question that has cut readers for two thousand years. A dishonest manager, facing the loss of his position, spent his last hours cutting the debts of his master's debtors, securing for himself a future in the houses of those he had helped. His master, the one being cheated, commended him. And Jesus said, the children of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the children of light.

In this extended reflection, Micah Thompson walks through the parable slowly, holding each line up to the light. The steward was not praised for honesty. He was praised for urgency. He understood that the moment was passing, that the resources were not his, and that his only chance at a future was to spend what was in his hands on the people who would still be there. The conversation moves from the parable text into a meditation on what it means to be faithful in the unrighteous wealth, the passing things, the small daily opportunities, before the door closes. There is a question, at the end, that the master will ask every steward, including you.

🌱 Before the harvest, there is only dark soil and silence — and that is exactly where God does His deepest work. A thirty-minute journey through the gardens of Scripture, for anyone tending ground that still looks like nothing.

From the garden God planted with His own hands in Eden, to the hillside where Jesus spoke about soil and seed, to the olive press where He knelt and bled into the ground, to the empty tomb where a weeping woman mistook the risen Christ for the gardener. 🌿 A ten-minute Grace Moment for the seasons when prayer feels impossible. When you open your mouth and nothing comes out, when the words dissolve before they reach your lips, when the silence feels heavier than any answer would have. A quiet word about the prayer you cannot yet pray, and the Lord who is already receiving it.

Hannah Liu reads from Romans 8:26, Psalm 61, and the upper-room story of Thomas, and points to the Father who sits across from you in the long pause, waiting, because you are worth waiting for. Hosted by Hannah Liu as part of the Grace Moments series on Jesus 24/7

🌱 Chapters:
0:00 — The Nights When Words Will Not Come
1:30 — Thomas and the Prayer That Arrived
3:00 — When the Spirit Intercedes
4:30 — The Prayer of Being Heard
6:00 — A Shepherd Who Leans In
7:00 — Stay a Little Longer
8:00 — The Long Work of Prayer

💛 Listening: Find a quiet room. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes if it feels safe. Let Hannah's voice carry you through ten unhurried minutes for the praying heart. Volume low, phone away.

📖 Scripture: Romans 8:26, Psalm 61, John 20.

✨ Host: The prayer you cannot yet pray is the prayer the Lord has been waiting to receive. Your confusion is the prayer, and the Spirit is filling it in with sounds only the Father can interpret. The Lord is not measuring the length of your sentences. He is measuring the honesty of your ache.

🙏 Blessing: May the Lord who hears the cry of the ravens, and the prayer of the prodigal, hear yours this hour. May you find grace to come as you are. May the prayer you cannot yet pray already be ascending like incense before the throne of grace. Stay. Stay a little longer. Amen.

A small vineyard. A single fig tree. Three years without fruit. And a gardener who steps in just before the ax is swung. The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree, from Luke thirteen, is one of the shortest parables Jesus ever told, but it carries the weight of every season when we have wondered if our lives are producing what they were made to produce.

Tonight, Micah Thompson walks through the parable slowly, the way Jesus told it, and sits inside the voice of the gardener. The gardener is the one who knows the soil. The gardener is the one who has been tending the tree while the owner walked past once a year to inspect. And when the owner says, cut it down, the gardener says, wait. Let me dig. Let me fertilize. Let me have one more season.

This is a parable about patience that has a horizon. It is a parable about the gardener who does not promise fruit but promises effort. It is a parable about the tree that must still do what only the tree can do. And it is a parable for anyone who has been the fig tree, anyone who has been the gardener, and anyone who has been the owner.

Have you noticed the inner committee in your head starts before your feet touch the floor? This morning devotional is for the half-awake, half-anxious, half-hopeful version of you.

You are reviewing yesterday. You are previewing today. You are rehearsing the conversation you are dreading. And underneath, a quieter question is asking whether the mercy you need for the next sixteen hours will show up on time.

This episode looks at Lamentations 3, where the prophet writes, "His mercies are new every morning." The tense matters. They are new. Already arrived. Placed in the night while you slept, waiting for you to notice.

Three movements. First, how God meets you at the messy Tuesday morning version of yourself, not the curated Sunday version. Second, the daily rhythm of grace that arrives before the demand. Third, the invitation to stop white-knuckling today and walk in with open hands, expecting the mercy already on its way.

If you have been carrying your mornings alone, this five-minute Word Burst is for you.

Chapters:
⏱ 0:08 — The Hook: What if the hardest part of your day is the voice in your head before it begins?
⏱ 0:51 — Lamentations 3:22-23: His mercies are new every morning — already in the room.
⏱ 2:15 — How God Works: He does not require you to perform well before He shows up kind.
⏱ 3:15 — Remember the Last Season: The strength you did not manufacture. The peace that arrived without permission.
⏱ 4:11 — The Send-Off: You are met this morning. Walk on.

Have you ever prayed and felt like the ceiling was getting more out of your prayers than you were? Have you watched other people receive the blessings you have been asking for, sometimes for years? Have you carried grief so long that the rest of the world seems to be living in color while you walk in black and white?

In this noon hour devotional, we slow down and walk honestly through eight different rooms where believers feel forgotten by God — rooms of unanswered prayer, of doors that will not open, of silent heavens, of faithfulness that no one sees. In each room, we speak the truth of what you are feeling, then we lift it up together as a guided prayer to the God who has never once lost track of you.

We linger on biblical figures who felt the exact same way — Hannah weeping until her lips could not speak, David crying out how long O Lord will you forget me forever, Hagar sitting by a well and naming God the God who sees me, Joseph sitting in a prison cell for years, the children of Israel trapped between Pharaoh's army and the Red Sea. Their stories are your stories. And the God who met them in the ache will meet you in yours.

The closing prayer gathers every situation into one long surrender. If you need permission to be honest with God today, this hour is for you.
