The echoes of a hockey game played 43 years ago today still reverberate.
There’s a reason the U.S.A. defeating the USSR in 1980 was selected as the most significant sports moment of the 20th century.
It lifted a team, a town and a nation - events like that are in short supply today.
This team also thought us something that I have based my professional life on; that when a group of people believe, trust and work for each other - miracles are possible.
This week we’re re-releasing a recap of the Miracle On Ice that Lee recorded back in 2019. We hope you enjoy this special episode and it inspires you to look to the 1980 team for motivation and as an example of a well-bonded team.

NHL veteran goaltender Clint Malarchuk’s life and story are a testament to the importance of mental health in the sport of hockey and beyond. He is a suicide survivor, someone who has experienced trauma from childhood on, and now dedicates his life to impacting others through speaking regularly on the subject of mental health and by serving as a figurehead at The Ranch Teammates For Life organization.
We are beyond honored to have had Clint for an interview on Our Kids Play Goalie. Our team took so much away from this extremely impactful episode.

This week we’ve decided to have do our very first cross-over episode featuring a parent (and a podcast host) that has braved the elements of another youth sport.
We thought it would be a great show idea to compare and contrast our crazy sport lifestyle - to see if ours is as insane as we say - and soccer seemed like the perfect starting point. JB Anderson of the Soccer Dad Pod is just the right man for the job!
In addition to being a podcast host and the Owner of Gaslight Studio’s STL, he is a State Champion in Illinois with Granite City High, winner of the Holland Cup International Tournament, a NAIA Collegiate player and has spent 15 years as a youth club coach.
Most importantly he is a proud parent (like the three of us and most of you listening) of 3 kids, Keller - who is 17, Beckett who is 14 and Maxwell who is 9 - all whom play soccer competitively.
