Welcome to Episode 158 where I have a conversation with Dr. Eddie Capparucci, a PhD and certified addiction counselor, about men who struggle with sexual addiction and lack of emotional agility.
Eddie is an author and therapist who specializes in the treatment of sexual and pornography addiction. He is the creator of the Inner Child Model, which has been endorsed by many leaders in the sex addiction field.
This therapy focuses on identifying childhood pain points that still haunt those who struggle with addiction. By helping individuals understand "why" sex has had a stronghold on their lives, the Inner Child Model empowers them to make real changes. This treatment differs from other in that it seeks to change an individual's heart instead of simply trying to remove a destructive behavior. You can learn more about the Inner Child Model and his book at www.innerchild-sexaddiction.com
This is the book that Eddie will be talking about on the show today. It was such a great opportunity to connect with someone who is doing so much to help men. Not just with addiction issues but healing old wounds and finding ways to live better. I'm looking forward to having him on again to discuss his new book so stay tuned.

Welcome to Episode 157 where we focus on some of the qualities seen in a confident, loving man that feels good about who he is, and can be open and connect with others and with life.
In this episode we focus on the confident man, one who is strong yet allows himself to be vulnerable and therefore genuine. He can connect with others, share his feelings in healthy ways and be emotionally present for others when they do the same. He is one who has done the work of healing whatever pain has created low self-esteem and defensiveness, and instead becomes so much more approachable and enjoyable to be around. I think confident men have their insides match their outsides, and can create huge changes within themselves, in their relationships and in their communities.

In this episode we focus on how men's childhoods can set them up to avoid vulnerability and instead to cope via passive aggressive behavior in order to stay away judgment and conflict. Of course, that is exactly what they end up embroiled in because they are not stepping up confidently and being strong dads and partners. They are letting themselves down with their inauthenticity and therefore the inability to experience great relationships. We talk about how they often pair up with partners who have a penchant for rescuing rather than risking loss via setting firm boundaries and detaching, setting up a futile parent vs child dynamic instead of loving partners.
Society teaches boys not to cry
or show their feelings,
then act surprised when
some men act heartless.

Welcome to Episode 155 where we talk about how this month we will be focusing on men and how they struggle in relationships.
In this episode we get into the topics that will be helpful for men to focus on such as owning feelings, looking at how early experiences have shaped them, and finding healthier coping skills. We also explore how society and families can greatly impact a man's ability to have healthy self-confidence and connection with others.

EP153 Stopping the All or Nothing: How Our Binary Beliefs Create Stress
Welcome to Episode 153 where we talk about how we can add a lot of stress to our life by staying in black and white thinking, as well as being rigid to play it safe and not take risks.
In this episode we explore how we can create a lot of stress for ourselves by staying in the rigid all or nothing, perfect or horrible thinking, which keeps us from taking healthy risks in our life and seeing possibilities. It often goes hand in hand with feeling anxious and depressed and it's not hard to see why. We then looked into ways of being open to reframing situations, allowing for other possibilities and allowing more for ourselves.

Welcome to Episode 152 where we add on to the idea of how doing TOO much can be an easy distraction from feeling and facing things we don't want to contend with.
In this episode we talk about how for so many of us, piling on too much to do, keeping too many things going on at one time not only creates chaos and stress, but can also conveniently keep us from sitting in feelings we are avoiding. We explore where this coping skill may come from, ways to begin sitting in the truth, and the richness our life can have when we grab the courage to do so.

Welcome to Episode 151 where we talk about how one of the biggest ways we can create chaos in our life is if we struggle with people-pleasing.
In this episode we talk about a common and insidious struggle that so many people have – people pleasing behavior. At its core it is fear-based impression management, that has some hidden costs that are important to look at and can certainly create lots of imbalance in our lives. It is a longstanding coping skill learned in childhood, and yet can be changed if with some deeper work around boundaries, self-esteem and building the courage to say no.

living to please others."

Welcome to Episode 150 where we explore how the stress in our lives can cause longstanding problems, and how this month we will explore the causes and the cures.
In this episode it's all about how to figure out what is crazy in your life right now, some of the typical culprits, and how to get grounded and create and maintain some much-needed balance. Sometimes it's obvious to us why life seems like it's spinning, such as a crisis or huge change. Yet more often we can become slowly accustomed to it being too much, since we acclimated slowly down the slippery slope.

if you feel demoralized and exhausted,

In this episode we finish out the month all about change, by focusing on what we need to let go of in order to move forward. From old, limiting beliefs to old habits and fears, we explored how we may be holding onto things without realizing it. Until we are truly ready to let go, we won't be able to embrace the new and sustain those changes we so badly want. Again, change does take courage, and it takes big ones to let go and trust the process, the universe and yourself that you can have it better and different.
Key Elements:
Leave who you were.
Love who you are.
Look forward to
who you will become.
