Welcome to Episode 168 where we begin a new month dedicated to creating confidence, and/or regaining it if that's what we need to do.
In this episode we focus on how you can take this month and really get back to yourself, to get clear, and to make healthy decisions from there. To me, it's really boundary work…setting limits out there with what is no longer serving us (or ahem maybe never did!) as well as within, where we take some much-needed time to just STOP, rest, practice self-care so the answers we are yearning to have can actually come to us. From what is draining our energy to all the things that might be keeping us distracted and therefore disconnected from ourselves, we focus on ways to detach from what isn't serving us and take time to get quiet so we can get clear. Self-care is a big part of this, especially downtime so our brains and our intuition have a chance to gather all the necessary information we need to take better care of ourselves and to figure out in where we want to go from here.

EP167 Letting Go of Your Need to Control Your Teenager is the Greatest Gift You Can Give Them
Welcome to Episode 167 where we finish out our month about empowerment with my interview with Jim White, author and coach.
This episode is my interview with Jim White. Jim is an author, coach, and founder of The Family Enrichment Academy. He has spent the last 40 years studying the topics of personal development, marriage, and parenting. More importantly, he has also spent those 40 years applying these lessons and living my life as a husband, a father to 6 children and a grandfather … Papa Jim. His great new book: How To Be The Parent Your Teenager Needs You To Be: Without All Of The Fighting, Frustration, Or Fear Of Doing It Wrong is available on Amazon.
As he moved along the first journey as a husband and father, doing all of the stuff that a father of 6 children has to do. He experienced an amazing internal transformation as well. Through his passion for personal development and family enrichment, he was discovering and putting into practice the principles, values and beliefs that make a life full of peace, joy, purpose and love possible. Twenty years ago I wrote this definition of a "successful family": A successful family is one whose members speak with respect, honor difference, provide a nurturing environment, empower each other, and truly enjoy being together. They have a knack for really enjoying and appreciating the good times, while at the same time, they can effectively deal with any difficult issues that come their way. There is a sense of peace, joy, warmth, and love within their home.
The mission of The Family Enrichment Academy is to share 40 years of lessons and hard-earned wisdom. To empower parents to be the hero within their families. To teach the principles, values and beliefs that will lead to a life and a family full of peace, joy, warmth, and love.

Welcome to Episode 166 where we discuss how there are three ways we all communicate, according to Jim Rohn. We will be passive-aggressive, aggressive, or assertive.
In this episode we talked about how to be empowered we must be assertive, which means standing in our truth while being calm, grounded and respectful of others at the same time. We discussed what assertiveness looks like and what is definitely is not, such as aggressive or passive-aggressive behavior. Assertiveness is all about finding and using your voice in healthy ways to make your insides match your outsides, so you can feel confident and trust yourself more.

Welcome to Episode 165 where we talk about a foundational piece to empowerment: having healthy boundaries with ourselves and with others.
In this episode we focus on how being empowered means understanding and practicing setting limits, as well as being able to set them with ourselves. We explore the different facets of boundary setting, where we first learn to have them (or not), and ways they are either respected or when and how they are violated. We also get into a big part of boundary work and that is healthy detachment, where we learn how to let go of control. Being empowered also means owning your gifts and being open to taking healthy risks and letting go of the outcomes.
Key Elements:

"If someone throws a fit
because you set boundaries,
it's just more evidence
the boundary is needed."

Welcome to Episode 164 where we focus on one of the biggest aspects of empowerment: owning our choices and thus owning our life.
In this episode we focus on how being empowered means complete ownership of the self, especially keeping ourselves and others in a place of choice and taking full ownership of our choices. We explore the pieces of that ownership from our feelings to our behaviors, to our decisions, resulting in more confidence and emotional maturity. Our relationships become healthier as we create more emotional safety. Going a little deeper, we look at where we are right now in our life in terms of taking our power back.
Key Elements:
"Holding back your feelings
doesn't keep them hidden,
it just makes your behavior
incoherent."

Welcome to Episode 163 where we are going to spend some time talking about one of the core concepts of the show, and that is Personal Empowerment. We started out the podcast defining this, yet it's been awhile and time for a great refresher. This month as you get ready for this current season to wind down and the new one to begin, let's take some time to focus in on what it truly takes to feel, look and be empowered to be the person you were always meant to be.
In this episode we explore all the pieces we will talk about this month, including how empowered people have certain qualities that enable them to feel confident and to be authentic. Each week we will talk more about just how important these are, and how to work on them.
Key Elements:
It took a long time
to develop a voice,
and now that I have it,
I'm not going to be
silent.

Welcome to Episode 162 where we explore wrap up the month about attachment, and how to learn to let go.
In this episode we finish out this month which has been all about attachments we have to people, places, and things, and how the deeper we connect ourselves, and allow that person, thing or situation we are attached to influence our daily life, the unhealthier our relationships and we ourselves become. We look at what really needs to happen if we want to begin letting go of what has actually been controlling us and making us anxious and crazy on the inside if we got honest. Then we explore how the components of detachment and grief work are key to letting go of control and refocusing on ourselves.
Key Elements:
"No one ever told me
that grief felt
so much like fear."

Welcome to Episode 161 where we explore what your personal attachments might be, and how to begin the process of letting go.
In this episode we look at areas of attachment and ask you to think about some you may be caught up in trying to control lately…around people, events or the process. We explore how most attachments are fear-based, as we are afraid of negative outcomes if we let go and stop trying to influence what happens. Grief work is the answer as we work on letting go and coming to acceptance of what is, giving us perspective on how detachment can help us bring the focus back to ourselves and stay grounded.
Key Elements:
"There are things that we don't
want to happen but have to accept,
things we don't want to know
but have to learn,
people we can't live without
but have to let go."

Welcome to Episode 160 where we focus on the book The Five Levels of Attachment by Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr.
In this episode we focus on Don Miguel Ruiz Jr's book, The Five Levels of attachment and we look at how the more attached we become to something or someone outside of ourselves, the more we lose touch with who we really are. We discuss some of the many costs to our health, our relationships, and even our communities the more enveloped and entrenched we get into the nouns outside of ourselves. Taking this concept of attachment and looking at the cost to our mental health and our relationships was our focus today and will be next week as well. As we look at what freedom can truly look and feel like...
Key Elements:
"When we let go of our reactions
and detach from other people's
moods, actions, and words,
we take back our power."

Welcome to Episode 159 where we begin a new month all about freedom that comes from being able to let go.
In this episode we talk about how freedom is what we are seeking from anxiety, feeling depressed, stuck, disappointed in ourselves and overwhelmed. We need a Way Out. We want to feel better, and for our lives to BE better. True freedom means being able to let go, detach in love and to learn how to grieve what is instead of through to persuade twist and contort reality into what we want it to be. We will explore this month some of the concepts that Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. describes in his book about the Five Levels of Attachment. Then we will take a look at your specific attachments, and what to do about them.
Key Elements:
Detachment doesn't mean not caring.
It's taking care of yourself first
and letting others take responsibility
for their actions without trying
to save or punish them.
