In a tribute to the late luthier and designer of the Grateful Dead's iconic Wall of Sound, Rob goes back into the archive to bring you his conversation with Rick Turner.
Originally aired in edited segments during episodes 16-19, you can now hear the unedited version where Rick speaks about his time as musician, starting in the NYC coffee houses and including playing with Ian and Sylvia, how he gets into guitar building, the founding of both Alembic and Modulus guitars and much more.
Rick also goes into detail about how the Wall of Sound came to be and specifics on its design. Turner was cutting edge in both guitar and sound design circles and shares many details both technical and general, along with some great stories.

In this the final episode of Backstage Pass, our six part series telling the story of the development of rock and roll lighting and production in the seventies by those that made it all happen, we hear about the various crew members scattering to the four corners of the world and what they are doing now.
They are multi talented as you will have heard in the previous episodes of Backstage Pass and job descriptions range from sheep farming in New Zealand, to becoming a trade envoy, from heading a multi national lighting company to founding an internationally renowned restaurant chain. A few others have remained in the business one of who is now recognised as one of the world’s top lighting designers, another is one of Europe’s top rigging experts, both worked on the London 2012 Olympic games, whilst others run their own exhibition and event staging consultancy, a conference and wedding venue, previously a recording studio, another heads up a ticketing agency in Canada, whilst teaching fly fishing and making chocolate chip cookies feature too and not just as hobbies.

Pink Floyd helped create progressive rock music in the 1960s and started out playing clubs in London with elaborate light shows. In the 1970s they became one of the biggest bands in the world with platinum records and record breaking tours. Nick Mason, the only member of Pink Floyd to never leave the group, has convened with some friends to revisit the pre-Dark Side of the Moon catalog and breathe new life into these often forgotten classics. With the help of long-time Pink Floyd collaborator Guy Pratt on bass & vocals, his Rockonteurs partner Gary Kemp on guitar & vocals, Lee Harris (guitar) & Dom Beken (keyboards they provide an extraordinary show.
The Wolf scored a last minute seat to see them at the renowned Royal Albert Hall in London....in the front row!! I basically sat on the stage and marveled at these extraordinary musicians take on this incredibly special collection of songs from the 60s and early 70s. It was one of the most special nights of my life when it comes to seeing live music and I share it all with you on our 75th episode.

No matter who my guest is, I try to connect with each one and make the show fun for them and for me. Sometimes it’s easier than others. Mike Squires was one of the most fun shows I’ve ever done. He was so much fun to speak with, I can see why his podcast, Couch Riffs, is so popular. We talk about how he started podcasting and recording one take cover songs with his guests.
But before we get into that, Mike discusses his difficult childhood which led him to joining the Marines. Mike hilariously describes his band auditions after leaving the service. He has forced his way into some great bands like Nevada Bachelors, The Long Winters, & Duff McKagan’s Loaded.
Mike has released his first solo album. He tells me why it’s called #2, why it’s in an 8”x8” package, Why he’s nude on the cover, and why each song is 15 seconds long. Give him a follow on socials @themikesquires. Buy #2 on Bandcamp and check out all the incredible covers on the Couch Riffs YouTube channel, including the Yes song for Roadie Relief.
Follow us @PerformanceAnx on the socials, you can support us at ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety or buy some merch at performanceanx.threadless.com. And now I present to you, Mike Squires on Performance Anxiety, part of the Pantheon Podcast Network.

We're back with a whole bunch more rock and metal news with New Noize May 2022! We're covering a ton of stuff this week and giving our unfiltered takes so strap in.
Autograph bassist Randy Rand recently passed away. The sad news came in around the time of this recording. We give our thoughts on Autograph the loss of Randy. As requested in the episode, let us know of some recommended Autograph tracks.
Metallica's James Hetfield is, reportedly, still fuming over the album covers for 'Load' and 'Reload.' Why? We get into the reasons in this episode as well as share our take on this era of Metallica.
Jason Newsted recently spilled the beans on his potential involvement in a Van Halen-related project. This news was confirmed by guitarist Joe Satriani who was also asked to contribute. As strange as this story is, it appears that something was in the works. We share our thoughts on this strange story as well as cover David Lee Roth's recent statement on the situation.
Other stories covered this week include the passing of Cynthia Plaster Caster, Matt Sorum's recent comments on the breakup of Guns n' Roses, John 5 revisiting a tense on-stage moment with Marilyn Manson, Machine Gun Kelly, Dave Mustaine relieving himself in an odd location, Queensryche lawsuits, Judas Priest albums news, and more!

The search for Pedro continues. Though he hasn't been seen since Weekend 1 of Coachella, he's still leaving us clues and delicious drink recipes to keep us occupied.
This week, Addie Sartino and Pierce Turcotte of Kansas City indie rock band The Greeting Committee join the hunt and discuss their exhilarating, richly emotional new album Dandelion. If you want to get absolutely floored by lyrics like "You’re so perfect until I need you” and “I’m afraid I’ll disappear/But it’s not like anybody knew I was here" prepare to cry into your Kansas City Girls.
