We're back this week with all the rock news that's fit to spit with New Noize April 2022! It's been a heavy past couple weeks in the rock world with sad stories including the untimely death or Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and the reverberations felt worldwide from it. We share our thoughts on Taylor and some of the reactions to it including that of Ted Nugent.
Skid Row announced their newest singer recently with the hiring of former H.E.A.T. front man Erik Gronwall. The band released a brand new single 'The Gang's All Here' featuring Gronwall's vocals. We share our thoughts on the hiring of Gronwall, the firing of Z.P. Theart, and what we think the future holds for Skid Row.
Bon Jovi recently kicked off their latest tour and the press is definitely not going wild for it. A recent brutal review from their St. Paul show led us to find some audio of the tour kickoff show in Omaha the night before. You won't believe your ears. Even worse, you won't believe the crowd reaction to it.
Additionally, Chris Jereicho recently admitted that Fozzy does make use of backing tracks for their live performances and claims that "everybody does." Between these two stories, it's clear that there's some not-so-great things on the horizon for the rock world and Chris makes his feelings known on the subject while pulling no punches.
Other stories touched on this week include Vivian Campbell reflecting on his bad deal with Ronnie James Dio, Tom Keifer publicly commenting on his late band mate Jeff Labar's passing, Spike getting sacked from The Quireboys, and Ugly Kid Joe announcing a new tour; spoiler alert, the US is once again not included.
We hope you enjoy New Noize April 2022 and SHARE with a friend!

Your Backstage Pass allows you to learn about how the worlds of theatre and television came together as live music audiences grew more demanding. Rock and roll shows grew in ambition and scale and burst out from functional civic halls and venues to take place in sporting arenas and stadia.
After riding an open topped bus with Paul MacCartney, who opens up about the breakup of the Beatles, you will hear from those that set up ESP Lighting, the London company and about the early days when the visionary Chipmonck – the eponymous voice of the Woodstock Festival - came from the States to work with the Rolling Stones as their lighting designer and needed UK based crew and equipment to get their European tour on the road in the early seventies. From this the company blossomed and its stable of clients read like a checklist of rock and roll royalty each hoping to catch the musical press headlines by being bigger, better and more visually exciting than other bands or artistes going on the road with those in the company ‘making it up and they went along because no one had ever done it before.’

We’re excited to welcome Gerry Beckley, renowned co-founder of iconic rock band America, the group responsible for such classics as “Sister Golden Hair,” “Ventura Highway,” and their most famous, “A Horse with No Name.” America recently celebrated 50 years of music making and touring the world, and we wanted to catch up with Gerry to hear what’s on his mind as he reflects on the success they’ve had over the decades. Plus, he shares details relating to his new solo music and upcoming album release, Aurora, an eleven-song album set for release on June 17, 2022, via Blue Élan Records. Beckley’s a charismatic and optimistic artist, and we can’t wait to share our chat with him.

After 3 years of The Wolf living in London, Action Jackson finally got to make it over for a visit. We took the opportunity to take a guided tour of some of London's more historic rock spots and we had a blast. Lee from rocktours.co.uk was our super knowledgeable host who showed us, Savile Row where The Beatles last played, homes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin Swan Song offices, the last addresses of Jimi Hendrixx and Steve Clark and so many more. Plus, The Wolf saw Genesis at the O2 in London on what was their 2nd to last show ever. Despite the ailing health of Phil Collins, the band were tight and put on a brilliant show.

Peter M. Bernstein has composed, orchestrated and conducted some of the most well known movies of our time (Ghostbusters & Trading Places among them), including other incredible pieces of work like 21 Jump Street and Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
He’s also the son of Elmer Bernstein, the Academy Award winning film composer whose credits include The Man With the Golden Arm, The Ten Commandments, The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird and Ghostbusters, among others!
But in 1964, when Peter was a young teen, The Beatles and Bob Dylan entered the scene and for Peter his “whole world changed overnight"...and he decided he wanted to be a bass player.
In this episode we discuss his work as a composer, conductor and orchestrator but we also talk about his time as a bass player in LA. As a young musician in the late 60s and early 70s he was part of that famous Laurel Canyon and Hoot Night Troubadour scene, so he has an interesting perspective on that notable time and many stories to share.
