After 90s alt-rockers Hum gained a small amount of fame with their 1995 single "Stars", the band headed back to the studio to make their next record. By the time the Downward Is Heavenward was released in 1998, perhaps rock was ready for something else. The record garnered little attention, and the band dissolved, not putting out another record for another 22 years! But the record lived on, and it's masterful blend of space rock, grunge, post-hardcore, and a touch of emo sensibilities has lead many to consider it one of the best alt rock records of the 90s. Join us as we play a few tracks from this true hidden classic from rock's last great decade.

When it comes to rock and roll, nobody does it louder or bigger than KISS. They took the idea that rock is about having a good time and then turned that up to 11 with their bluesy music, soaring solos, and some of the most recognizable looks in rock and roll.
In this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we’re taking a look at KISS. Their rise to fame. The personality conflicts. The make up. The live shows with the explosions, fire breathing, and blood spitting. And of course, the merchandise!
Plus, we announce the winners of the vote for greatest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snubs and talk to our pal Bert Lepore from the Mix Tapes and Tasty Cakes podcast.
You wanted the best and you got the best. The hottest podcast in the land, Prisoners of Rock and Roll!

Surveying the crowd I realized I wasn't like these people. Many clung to walls for support and talked about seeing the band in the "good ole days." It dawned on me that ZZ Top would be the first and last concert for many of them. When was the last time I saw a "current" band? Was I missing my youth in exchange for seeing yesterday's heroes?
