  • Inside The Banjoverse: Joanne O'Connor - Irish Tenor Banjo
Joanne and I go way back, having come up through the life universities of The Willie Clancy summer school and the Fleadh Cheoil competitions in Ireland. We've had great fun over the years knocking head over our differing opinions on the virtue of playing polkas on a banjo. I'm not a fan, but Joanne finally explains to me how to do it properly!! We take a fond trip down memory lane in this interview, Joanne reminiscing about simpler times playing music as a child growing up in Co Limerick, the "craic" of the fleadhs, the mummers and the wren boys. Joanne is a terrific story teller and even better musician and a truly kind hearted soul.

  • Music Buzzz 23: John Waite
    ABOUT JOHN WAITE:
John Waite's voice has been a staple on the radio airwaves for decades now. Whether as a chart topping solo artist with tunes like "Change" and "Missing You", as lead singer of 70's and 80's bands such as The Babys with "Back On My Feet Again" "Isn't It Time" "Every Time I Think Of You" and Bad English "When I See You Smile" "Price of Love" or pairing up with the likes of Alison Krauss or Kyle Cook of Matchbox Twenty. His latest release is Wooden Heart, an Acoustic Anthology - The Complete Recordings Vol 1, 2 & 3 featuring songs from his catalogue and covers by the likes of Bob Dylan, Donovan and Hank Williams among others. With more live shows and new music in the offing, John Waite continues to forge his own singularly personal path, celebrating the present and engaged by the promise of the future. • Performance Anxiety: Bren Holmes (The Young Dubliners)
Bren Holmes moved from Dublin, Ireland to Los Angeles, California to start an Irish band called The Young Dubliners. They play a great combination of rock and traditional Irish music. In fact, Bren tells me how he gets a royalty check for a song that’s 400 years old.
After 28 years of grueling touring with the band, Bren called it a career. Until, that is, he started finishing music that he had been writing for years. He got together with some friends and recorded his first solo album, Everything You Never Wanted. Give him a follow @brenholmesmusic on Instagram and check out the album wherever you get new music. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on socials. We love coffee from ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety. Our merch is at performanceanx.threadless.com. So grab a drink and let’s get started with Bren Holmes on Performance Anxiety on the Pantheon Podcast Network.
