  • 12: Do THIS Instead of Setting New Year Resolutions
New year resolutions are a one-way ticket to failure-town. They just don't work. But, why don't they work and what can we be doing instead? This is the question that I am answering on today's episode of the Present & Profitable Moms podcast.

I used to be an avid resolution-er. Every new year would roll around and I'd strut my stuff thinking 'this is MY year - new year, new me.' Only to find myself knee deep in a bowl of sorrows 3 weeks into the new year beating myself up because I fell off track. There's a reason resolutions don't work and are only exciting for a short time and more people need to understand why.

In this episode, I'm giving you my simple, go-to two-question strategy that will literally change your life when it comes to resolutions and keeping your commitments to yourself - I know this is true because it changed mine. You'll learn how to tie your goals to the identity you want to have and not the one that you currently associate yourself with.

  • 11: Getting Started With Journaling And Creating A Practice That Works For You
When I post about my morning routine, people often ask me what I’m writing about in my journal. I have journals full of my thoughts and handwriting. I spend very intentional time in the morning journaling my thoughts.

One of the coolest parts of journaling is documenting your journey. When I read one of my journals from months ago, it's like reading a personal biography. Journaling is a gift to my future self on how far I've come.

It’s also great for mindset, clarity, and having intention. My journaling happens before I start my workday and then throughout the workday. In this episode, I dive into how you can create a journaling practice that works for you!

    Show Highlights:
    • [05:37] Some people may not have a journaling practice or realize how important it really is for creating intention and clarity in their lives.
    • [06:34] Is journaling something you want to do? I don't want it to be a chore.
    • [08:51] For me, the words on paper have cemented the journey that I have been on for the past year.
    • [10:23] Find something that feels good. When we experience things, it creates opportunities for us to feel good. Create an experience around your journal so that you want to do it more.
    • [11:23] Find something beautiful to capture your thoughts in. Having that beautiful journal in front of you will give you a positive feeling. Don't forget your favorite pen.
    • [12:08] Set up your environment and find a place where you feel good when you journal. Get comfortable.
    • [14:14] Don't overcomplicate and overthink it.
    • [14:56] Tap into your emotional side. Ask what you need right now. Take action.
    • [17:07] Gratitude. Start with what you can be thankful for. Focus on good and it will multiply.
    • [19:23] Be specific and pinpoint the tiniest of moments when you look at things from a deeper level.
    • [21:54] I am... finish the sentence.
    • [23:36] What am I holding myself accountable for today?
    • [25:30] Make sure that you ask the right questions for you, when you begin your journaling practice.

  • 10: Optimizing The Health Of Our Bodies And Business
A year ago, I enrolled in a large group Mastermind program. Jenny Blake was also part of this program. There were 100 ambitious women building businesses. The group was filled with amazing women, but Jenny stood out. Whenever she would ask the group a question, it would be about improving her clients' experience.

She wanted to make every client experience fantastic, and I value that so much because that's how I feel about my clients. Jenny is a coach and nutrition and fitness expert. She has an upcoming four-month nutrition and coaching program that will help you build muscle and decrease body fat, learn to eat your nutrition routine, and better understand nutrition.

My sister-in-law enrolled in her program and achieved outstanding results. We dive into many aspects of Jenny's business, from discovering and narrowing down your niche to not being afraid to niche down your ideal client or audience. Jenny also breaks down how to make nutrition a priority in your life. This is the perfect episode for this holiday season.

    Show Highlights:
[06:35] Sometimes it's hard to navigate who is being real in the online world to cultivate genuine relationships.
[08:06] Jenny actually helped me get my health back on track.
[09:10] The clarity of Jenny's program and her sales page are above and beyond.
[09:51] Jenny started out working with everyone, but she soon learned that she enjoyed a certain niche. She narrowed down her focus on people that she got the best results for.
[10:37] She started out with everyone, to people who work out, to people who lift, to people who lift four days per week, as she fine-tuned her niche.
[11:01] She then focused on professional ladies.
[12:04] It takes time to discover who you serve best and who you enjoy working with the most.
[14:53] There are millions of people that check the niche boxes and the personality boxes for Jenny to work with.
[21:36] Everything that goes into our machine (body) spits out our physique, mental clarity, energy levels, and overall health. How we take care of ourselves impacts everything else in our life.
[24:26] What goes in our bodies directly affects how we show up.
[27:43] Create your plate. Jenny's food looks amazing. It doesn't have to be super restrictive. We need enough nutrients for our body to work properly. We don't want to suppress our metabolism and hormones.
[33:39] Take the time to value and prioritize yourself and eat.
[35:24] Life is going to happen. It takes consistency and time to get fit. Create the space to have the food components for healthy meals ready. This takes time and effort.
[36:27] Practice the components and create solutions.
[37:47] Eating enough is the number one step. Create a structure for your day that works with your schedule. Find your structure and stick to it.
[40:07] We typically lack protein. Go back to structure and get protein into each of those meals. Have a protein shake post workout.
[43:28] Make meal planning fun and enjoyable. Once you have the structure you know how to plan for the week.
[45:44] Have a compelling reason that pushes the gas pedal in your body. Internal strength comes from being in the zone.
[48:28] For two weeks, break down your compelling reason and come up with specific examples that hit your gas pedal. You'll literally rewire your brain to take the actions to get healthier and be consistent.
[49:42] Compelling reasons eventually become your identity shift.
[51:46] There's a strategy. You need to eat enough. The holidays are the perfect time to eat enough. It's day in and day out consistency.
[54:44] The benefits of slowly and steadily eating more.
[56:16] Decide what holiday treats and events you want to include and the ones that you don't want to include.

  • 09: The Value In Becoming A Priority In Your Own Life
I recently held a three-day series called Me Time. It was all about teaching women how to prioritize without all of the guilt. I was constantly seeing women reaching out for help in balancing work and life. They were asking how do I do it all? How do I find time for myself?

I have so much empathy and compassion for women who are in that overwhelmed place. I feel like it's my duty to help pull them out of that place. That’s where the idea for Me Time came from. Today, I’m going to recap some of the lessons learned to help you value being a priority in your own life.

    Show Highlights:
[04:17] You deserve to be a priority in your own life. You deserve to come first without the guilt.
[05:02] When it comes to putting yourself first, it is not all or nothing. Having the tools and strategies to make yourself a priority is important.
[05:46] We are going to talk about why it's not selfish to put yourself first. Let's get rid of the guilt.
[06:42] When you have a full cup, everyone around you benefits.
[10:09] I found a balance where I can put fitness into my schedule in a very healthy way. It's not all or nothing.
[13:29] Not ever putting yourself first will make you feel really bad. It's about your choices. "Why stay in prison when the doors wide open?" Rumi
[14:21] There are opportunities in your life to take care of yourself. Don't stay in the negativity and the blame.
[15:36] Write down the three biggest priorities in your life. Look back at your list and ask where you fall on the list.
[17:15] Until you value yourself as a priority, you're going to fall low on the list. Rewrite your list with yourself as number one.
[18:15] It's a problem that we feel guilt and shame for putting ourselves as number one on our priority list. If you lose oxygen, you can't help other people.
[20:07] My 1, 2, and 3 are me, my family, and my business. I can't take care of my family and my business if I don't manage number one.
[22:13] How to put yourself first. Who are you being when you show up for yourself? How does the best version of yourself show up for yourself when you are the priority in your life?
[24:06] What does this person think, do, and how does she look? Envision the person you want to be before you start being that person.
[26:11] You can do the things you want to do in small increments. What's the smallest action you can take to start generally doing something just for you?
[30:47] It is not selfish to be a priority in your own life, it's essential. You can't take care of others until you take care of yourself.

  • 08: 5 Things to Do in Your Business Before the Year Ends
It's hard to believe that December is here. I love the holiday season, but I'm shocked it's here already. It's important to have things in the business in order, so that we can step away from work and enjoy this festive time of year. I want to feel truly present when I celebrate with my loved ones.

This episode is about ending anxiety about time off by preparing beforehand. I’m going to give you some clear tactical things that you can do to enjoy your business and the holiday season. These are the things that I do to ensure that the last 30 days of my year are very organized and well planned.

    Show Highlights:
[03:45] Anxiety about having time off only exists when you haven't done the preparation to have the time off.
[05:12] The end of the year doesn't mean that we are shutting our businesses down. We can still make money and enjoy time off.
[06:34] 1. Bring your finances current. You want to start with a clean financial slate on January 1st.
[08:50] Right now is the most important time to bring things current. Things you can do include reconciling your expenses, sitting and reviewing your profit and loss statements in detail, and having needed money conversations.
[11:24] Plan, edit and, update your budget and spending as needed.
[12:16] 2. Plan time off and commit to that time off. This is critical for business owners. Put it on your calendar and commit fully.
[14:23] 3. Know what you're selling and create enough content ideas ahead of time to sell those offers. What are you selling? Pre-plan your content to sell those offers.
[16:04] Strike a balance between knowing when you're on and knowing when you're off. Have the available infrastructure to answer questions during that time.
[17:58] 4. Do a calendar review. Look at every single day of the entire month and know when and where you need to be and communicate boundaries to clients ahead of time.
[20:09] 5. Decide now on your mentorships and investments for 2023. Have a general idea who you want to learn from in the new year. Everybody needs mentorship.
[22:40] Recap: 1. Bring your finances current both personally and professionally. 2. Plan your time off, put it on your calendar, and commit to it. 3. Know what you're selling and create enough content ahead of time to sell those offers. 4. Do an in-depth calendar review and communicate early on. 5. Decide who and what you're going to invest in and commit the funds.

05: A Better Approach to Copy and Content
07: Why Batching Content Doesn't Work And What To Do Instead
    26 min
  • 07: Why Batching Content Doesn't Work And What To Do Instead
I talked about Copy and Content in episode 5, but I have so much more to say about copywriting specifically. It’s not necessarily a skill that all good writers have. I believe that creating great copy is all about how you approach your clients, their problems, and the solutions. I’m excited to share what I believe are the essentials for creating great copy.

    Show Highlights:
[04:00] Your ability to write great copy isn't based on being a great writer. It's really about how you approach your clients, their problems, and the solution.
[07:39] Common questions include: Should I plan my copy in advance? What tools should I use? What should I regularly post? What should I talk about? How often should I post? How to not be too salesy.
[09:01] These are the wrong questions to ask, because they come from a place of lack.
[09:55] Content is meant to create value or help for your audience.
[13:17] Planning every meticulous detail works for corporate but not a personal brand on social media. The reason why it doesn't work is overthinking.
[15:36] Focus on batching your ideas and thoughts at one time. Create copy and content from a place of feeling inspired and being aligned. Look back on your ideas and create copy from a place of feeling really inspired.
[16:24] 1. Get clarity on your process for getting results. At the highest level, what are the three or four steps that I would walk a client through to achieve their desired result?
[17:47] With my business, the high level steps are presence, clarity, conversion, and CEO mindset.
[19:22] 2. Pull up a blank Google document and make each high-level step a heading.
[20:22] Choose one and ask what you would share, showing up in full service, if you were unattached from any outcome and staying in full belief that you could help him or her.
[21:11] Set a timer for 20 minutes and let your fingers fly across the keyboard.
[22:33] This method works because you are coming from an idea to make copy easier as opposed to just getting it done.
[23:19] When I want to post something, I go into my copy library and find what I'm compelled to write about.
[24:48] Call to action: Block some time on your calendar to practice this. Let me know if this was helpful to you.

  • 06: Shifting Perspective
Perspective is everything. Your perspective in a single moment determines what you think, how you feel and how you respond. Simply put, it is the outlook you have on your circumstances - and it can make or break everything in your life in business.

When things happen that are less than ideal, do you choose to focus on the problem or do you give more energy to the solution? Depending on your perspective at that current point in time, you will either feel good or you will feel crappy. Rarely, is there an in between.

In this episode, Stephanie shares a simple strategy for exiting negative responses out of your life so you can welcome in new perspectives that will drastically change how you think and feel.

NOTE: Today's episode includes teachings from a live group coaching call for 'Presence,' a 6-week program for women who want more fulfillment, purpose and intention in their life. You might hear a dog bark here and there, kids popping in to say hello and life happening in the background. In Presence, our students are real humans with real life going on around them and we welcome it all in our community.

  • 04: The 10 Minute Morning
If you've ever had the thought 'I'm not a morning person,' then today's episode is for you. For the longest time, I believed that I wasn't the type of person who could wake up early and make time for herself before starting the day. I was so tied to the belief that only a special type of human could do this and it certainly wasn't me.

That all changed when I became curious about why becoming a morning person was so important to me and I started to create the habit in a simple and doable way - in just 10 minutes. The 10 Minute Morning became a standard for intentionally starting my day and has compounded over time into the 90 minute morning - but I never would have gotten to this place without those first 10.

In this episode, I teach you how to start loving your mornings and using them more intentionally in just 10 minutes a day. I believe that having a morning ritual or routine is essential to how you show up each day and that everyone needs one in their life.
