In today's episode of the Philosopher Insights podcast, I share my favorite insights from 'Do Hard Things' by author and executive coach Steve Magness.
From a beloved performance expert, and executive coach comes a radical reassessment of how we view toughness and what it means to realize our greatest achievements in the face of difficulty.
Magness teaches us how to engage with our bodies in Do Hard Things. He explains how discomfort, leaning in, paying attention, and making space for deliberate action can be actual signs of developing inner strength.
I really enjoyed the book and I hope you can extract some value from the insights shared today and begin applying them to your life.
Enjoy!
In today's podcast episode, I bring to you, my all-time favorite personal development speaker. Jim Rohn passed away in 2005 but his message continues to resonate for millions worldwide. He was the one who inspired people like Tony Robbins, Les Brown, Darren Hardy, and countless others to discover the best in themselves.
Today, Jim is talking about the emotions that can indeed turn your life around:
1) Disgust
2) Decision
3) Desire

in this week's podcast episode, we discuss an absolutely incredible book - The Pursuit of Perfect, by Tal Ben-Shahar.
As a former Harvard professor who taught the most popular class in Harvard’s history, he’s created a true gem with the release of this book.
You will learn how to get away from the impossible pursuit of perfection and move towards a life of greater happiness, richness, and true fulfillment.
This was a challenging book to pull out my favorite insights as it's just packed with incredible wisdom.
I also featured 'Happier' by Tal Ben-Shahar in Episode 27 of the podcast - check it out if you have not already had a chance to listen to it.

In today's episode, Steve Harvey shares what I believe is his defining message. His life exemplifies the power of his message.
If you want to stop existing in life and start living it - then Steve Harvey believes you are going to need to Jump. Every successful person has had to JUMP at some point in their lives, they had to overcome their fear, that had to embrace the risks, and they had to leap into the uncertainty with nothing more than faith in the beginning.
Both clips from Steve Harvey are available on YouTube.

In this week's edition of Philosopher Insights, I bring to you my favorite insights from a quick reading and easy-to-follow book by Jennifer Ashton - The Self Care Solution.
"Sometimes the path to radical transformation begins small, not by losing twenty pounds or meditating for hours but by making the choice to try something good for you. - just for one month - to see how it makes you feel."
Philosopher Insights is all about sharing insights to help you make that personal transformation, and that is why I loved the principles set out in this book. Change one habit each month and commit to it for 30 days - simple.
I would encourage you to read the book for the full picture, but I picked out some of my favorite insights, and hope it inspires you to start your 12-month journey today.
Enjoy!

n this week's Philosopher Insight, we take a closer look at 'Deep Work' by Cal Newport.
Cal Newport is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Georgetown University and the author of six books. One of them is Deep Work, a book that argues that focus is the new I.Q. in the modern workplace and So Good They Can’t Ignore You, a book that debunks the long-held belief that “follow your passion” is good advice.
The wealth of information available at our fingertips today has created a poverty of attention. We must recognize that the strength of our attention is at the core of everything that we do. This is why 'Deep Work' is such an important book because the majority of people are drowning in non-productive tasks and daily distractions.
Check his website for more information about Cal Newport at www.calnewport.com and his great podcast at www.calnewport.com/podcast.

In today's edition of the Philosopher Insights Podcast, I share my favorite insights from 'Sustain Your Game' by Alan Stein Jr.
This is a follow-up to his first book, 'Raise Your Game', which I absolutely loved. I am a massive fan of Alan Stein Jr and loved his latest book.
Alan Stein Jr. offers you the secrets to enduring, unimaginable success based on his years of experience as a successful basketball performance coach, having worked with superstars like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Kobe Bryant. High performers who wish to discover practical tactics and methods to maintain their performance over the short-, middle-, and long-term will love this book.
If you have not checked out Episode 2 of the podcast, I would urge you to go back and listen to Alan talk about the brilliant work ethic of Kobe Bryant. It's one of my favorite talks and Alan does a magnificent job sharing his experience with the late Kobe Bryant.
Enjoy!

Rest In Peace - David A Arnold
In today's Philosopher Byte, I wanted to share insights from a very special comedian, who passed away suddenly in early September 2022. David A. Arnold was fast becoming a top comedian and show writer in the industry and finally making his dreams come true of being a well-known stand-up comedian.
I only discovered him this month, but his story and his recent passing really had an impact on me, so I wanted to share his insights as a tribute to this incredible man.
David A. Arnold has two Netflix specials out:
1) Fat Ballerina
2) It Ain't for the Weak.
I simply wanted to record this podcast as a tribute to his life - and hopefully get more people watching him work his gift on stage.
Enjoy!
