Only days removed from an appearance in the AFC Championship game, and we’re hearing rumblings of a potential Ben Roethlisberger retirement, an Antonio Brown trade, and other “stories”, many of which have been blown way out of proportion.

Ben went on his weekly radio show, and started the firestorm by saying he might not be back, but also saying what he said, doesn’t mean he won’t be back!

Other outlets pounced on Mike Tomlin’s comments from Antonio Brown’s escapade with live streaming a week earlier, suggesting the Steelers could trade him.

And then there’s all of the so-called fans on social media, who just can’t be happy no matter what: are those yinzers to blame for this circus act?

I really dislike using the word “my”, as if I own the Steelers, but as fans, we all know we talk as though we’re part of one big football family.

Unfortunately, the result wasn’t what we wanted on Sunday, as the Steelers dropped a disappointing game to the New England Patriots. However, not too long ago, we didn’t think they would be playing in the AFC Championship.

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but before we see that, we have to realize this is a game. One game. One with many nuances, all of which didn’t favor the Steelers on Sunday; be it a call or no-call, a dropped pass or a missed tackle.

Those things add up, and after some reflection, I think you too will see how special the 2016-17 season was.

Folks, this is what a statement game is defined as.

The Killer B’s of Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell came to play, with the latter two scoring their first postseason touchdowns (and at that, a pair each). Ben had a perfect passer rating through most of the first half, while AB and Bell both set some new records in the process of jumping out to a 14-0 lead.

Though the Dolphins weren’t entirely out of the game heading into the second half, the “bend but don’t break” Steelers defense made sure they put them out of reach, forcing several turnovers at key moments in the game.

The Steelers move on to Kansas City next week, where some things will need to continue, while others will need to stop, in order to reach the Super Bowl.

Nathaniel Bodnar joins Joe, as the two discuss the differences between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins heading into Sunday’s big playoff game.

The Steelers were embarrassed in South Florida back in October, but this time around things are different.

The Steelers offense is different. The Steelers defense is different.

Pittsburgh is healthy, and Miami, not so much (going from the practice reports).

Apparently (and unfortunately) a well-known SPORTS publication has lowered itself into tabloid territory this week, with it’s cover feature: Ben Roethlisberger is the NFL’s most polarizing player.

Yes, Big Ben. Not a number of other controversial figures, but the Steelers quarterback who was once accused of some ugly things way back when.

That “way back when” was in 2010, and this is 2017, but that doesn’t stop the publication from bringing up things that were left in the past, and slanting it toward saying “what this says about the Steelers QB… AND YOU!”
