Pittsburgh Steelers Podcast | Steel City Underground

It’s a free agency frenzy and our hosts are here to help you make sense of it all.

Joe Kuzma, Brian E. Roach, and Zach Metkler get together to discuss all of the major moves with the Pittsburgh Steelers and what their future looks like after placing the franchise tag on Bud Dupree, as well as making moves with several releases, restructures and even some retirements.

The hosts also highlight a few other major happenings from around the league and center around the usual theme that “free agency is stupid”… and that’s why the Steelers seldom go on spending sprees during it!

After looking at every other position on the Steelers offense, Joe and Brian team up to talk about the only group they haven’t yet: the wide receivers.

Once a feared group from a franchise labeled the “wide receiver factory” the Steelers pass catchers fell from grace in 2019. The hosts discuss what was a contributing factor in their lack of production, and which of those receivers we could expect to see bounce back in 2020.

They’ll also address the fans cries to add a “playmaker” to that group this offseason and whether or not Pittsburgh should be interested in doing so.

Joe’s back, as he joins up with Brian to discuss the Steelers decision on whether or not to re-sign outside linebacker Bud Dupree.

With a breakout year in 2019, Dupree is set to receive a huge contract. The franchise tag number alone sets him at around $16 million: but can the Steelers afford him?

That answer depends on several factors, but it’s not as bad as Dupree’s detractors claim. The duo also debunks why Dupree isn’t a “one-year wonder” with some startling data surrounding other Steelers and NFL pass rushing greats, further cementing their case to bring Bud back in 2020.

While the NFL’s owners and players association discuss a new collective bargaining agreement, Joe and Brian will do the same!

How might adding extra games to the regular season and postseason affect the league? And how might that have an impact on the Steelers?

Coincidentally, had the newly proposed changes been in place since the last CBA was ratified, the Steelers would’ve overwhelmingly benefitted!

The hosts discuss the how’s and why’s, while giving their opinions on if these changes are good for the game, its players and its franchises.

While some fans and certain websites created speculation about a Le’Veon Bell return to the Steelers this offseason, Antonio Brown went on social media to apologize for his words and actions toward Ben Roethlisberger.

Joe and Brian dig into both stories, discussing whether or not either of the Killer B’s could ever come back to Pittsburgh.
