Pixel Lit

On THIS verry special episode of Pixel Lit, Kevin and Phil push the Floating Castle out of their lives for good and while Phil does not enjoy it, he still cherishes all the memories he made of King's Quest when he was a kid. See! You too can experience media that doesn't ruin your childhood.

Look at me, throwing shade at online discourse from like 2016. Anyway.

Welcome back! To the Floating Castle! It's floating? Well not anymore. It was only floating for the first few pages of the book. Now it's just Castle. And not the Nathan Fillion kind. ANYWAY, there's a lot of padding in this book, so this episodes seem to move pretty quickly.

One more episode to go after this, and then on to something else!

*New Series* Kevin and Phil crack open the first King's Quest novel, subtitled the Floating Castle. It was written by Craig Mills and published in 1995. King's Quest for those of you who don't know was an adventure game series created by Sierra On-Line in which the player controlled Graham on his adventures to becoming king. The series later has a few different characters take the lead, including the main character of this book, Alexander.

This will be a standard three-part series, so get your text parsers ready to Get Ye Flask.

We had a Q&A with Resident Evil and Marvel's Midnight Suns author SD Perry! She is a bit shy when it comes to podcasting, but was generous enough to write responses to a list of questions that we asked her.

We covered a range of topics from how she got started in the write-for-hire business to which characters from Midnight Suns were her favorite. Our dear friend, and first guest EVER on PixelLit, Kat from  @PixelaDay  lent us her lovely voice to read the answers to the questions. Go check out her work!

More Bionic Commando coming hot and ready at your face! That doesn't sound right. But remember, the Bionic Commando has a HOT FINGER, so take that for what you will. This is a kid's book right?

Because this was recorded at the same time as the last episode, the crunchiness is still there. Special thanks to HotCyder for joining us on this adventure!

Heyyoooo, new series! Come aboard for this two parter featuring special guest HotCyder of the Bullet Time podcast. Not only does he host the preeminent podcast on shooters that have missed their mark he is the thumbnail king of youtube, and a pretty spiffy YouTuber in his own right.

Bionic Commando is another Worlds of Power special, which were produced by friend of the pod Seth Godin back in the late 80s and early 90s. This one follows the adventures of the titular Bionic Commando as he advances into Badd territory to save his friend, Super Joe. It's uh, great. Part 2 of this special will be up next week.

Also as an aside, there has been some crunchiness going on with the audio lately and I believe it might have to do with our recording platform. Just FYI, I am investigating how to solve it and if we have to move our recordings elsewhere.

Heyyyyy we are finishing up ANOTHER SERIES! Would you look at that. Marvel Midnight Suns is a fun game, and a fun book. We give both our hearty PixelLit recommendation! Sometimes I write things here but I'm never sure who is reading them. So if you read the episode description today, send me one word on twitter: rutabaga.

Howdy! So, I’ll be honest, right around minute 45 Kevin’s audio gets all robot voice for a few minutes. It comes back to normal! Don’t worry about it! Seriously stop worrying. FINE. You can worry about it a little bit. Anyway, in this episode we cover the middle third of Marvel Midnight Suns: Infernal Rising, and let us tell you, these villains are hilarious.

Show Notes:

6:00 – Starting with Chapter Five

44:20 – Kevin’s Voice goes wonky for a couple minutes

52:30 – Whaddya Playin?

New series! Marvel Midnight Suns: Infernal Rising is a prequel to the game of the same name and written by our most frequently read author, S.D. Perry. We are big fans of her AND the game so join us in checking out this book.

In the final episode of the Alien Isolation series, we have more flashbacks! Because we know everyone was begging for them. Also, Phil and Kevin give their final thoughts on the book, talk a little bit about Marvel's Midnight Suns and Signalis, and then Kevin rants for nearly 7 uninterrupted minutes about Elon Musk. Seriously it was impressive how fired up he got.
