And now, let’s introduce…
Welcome back to another episode of the Plant Fuelled Podcast with me, your host Callum Weir. Today I am joined by Dr Anthony Rafferty MBChB, BSc, MEM, PhD (@goodgutdoc) to deep dive into the gut to discuss gut and microbial health. It has been an absolute pleasure to converse with Anthony and such a learning experience for me and I hope you too as the listener.
In this episode, we explore why your gut health matters, how to improve your guts microbiome, how we are only really 10% human and how our microbes react when consuming different foods.
Does your gut health affect your athletic performance? Do I have enough plant diversity within my weekly diet? Am I worried about protein when I should really be worrying about fibre? These are all questions that are answered in great depth with an outstanding amount of knowledge and ease.
While we discuss the importance of good gut health we also jump into how Anthony's journeys through different careers ended up with him becoming a gut doctor.
Of course, if you follow Anthony online, I don't think we could end this episode without finding out a bit more about the animals that you see crop up on his pages such as the best-fed pigs in all of Ireland, Annie and Oscar.
I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did and look forward to seeing you on the next episode of the Plant Fuelled Podcast
