"And those things can kind of tie into each other because I'm a big believer of the idea that it's one thing to just learn the facts needed to complete an assignment. But much like math or science, if you have a greater context, you can. If you have a broader sense of the things going on, like, you can add a lot to the conversation as you are pointing kids in the right direction."

"And it, it just that whole idea, I think of the, the quote that I read. I think outside of the idea, this book is just resonates. Resonates with me pretty well. I remember when I was like 18 or 19, I had a really good friend that asked me what is my comfort zone? Like, everybody has a comfort zone because there are different kinds of. I had a certain group of friends."

"I've tutored math for so many different certification programs and standardized tests and not just like the SAT act, going into different professions that I've seen math applied in a lot of practical ways, but not in a way that's consistent enough for specific things to like codify and say, this is how you teach this particular thing for this skill. So looking for ways to do that. So I'm trying to think, is there any other stuff anyway that's top of mind."

"And I, you know, you do that a few times and people start to give. Can't answer. So I got a little more creative with that and it just turned out to be a really good habit to get the kids talking early on. And then there were other, like, there's more like semi formal social. Formal social emotional learning things that we do. Like there's an actual class, like time reserved for that. So there's. So the SEL stuff in the morning."

"But if you basically said, I can tackle pretty much any math, and I've seen them across standardized tests, and even if I can get good enough at the specific things covered in, like, there's a mechanical engineering test that has to be taken. It has math and science in it. There's the mcat. You don't have to know everything in science, just those things specific to that test."

"And I guess it's another like as someone who work with younger kids less it's another place to get used to doing so. So yeah, it'll be a, a light ish day. So I talked about in a previous. Well wanted to get back tutoring locally like in the neighborhood or the city that I reside in. And it's not about the particular city, it's where I ever. I live."

"Like it's more like a collection of sorts, articles related to African American history. But it's organized in chronological order and they're really short. Short enough that they're engag. They read like short narrative articles. So it's kind of like history written. Written in the style of fiction, kind of like, I would say, I wouldn't quite say like the New Yorker, but you feel more like you're moving through a story or an anthology rather than like a dry history textbook."

"And then there's a day program that's across, I think, five weeks where, you know, it's just, it's just during the day in either city. And I think they have another program in upstate New York. Now. What's really interesting about the program is the math that you cover. There's different classes, the kids take one. The day program, the kids take two math classes a day."
