  • YOU Get One or Two Stars! We Review the Reviews of "Ritual in Death"
We're going to be honest and say that the reviews for this book were a bit weird. Most of the one or two star reviews were from people super pissed because they bought "Time of Death" which was a compilation (NOT copulation) of three of Nora's previously released novellas. The bad reviewers swear that there was NO indication that "Time of Death" was a compilation, and that they were ripped off.
But we also have weird reviews with people being upset that there's satanic stuff, or upset that there was no Feeney, Summerset or Mavis.
The good news though is Connie and her husband enjoyed this one, we have someone who thinks that this book was "Quick paced, witty and over far too soon," and we have some high praise for Susan Ericksen.
What you may not have known, (and we didn't either until recently) is that apparently, Tara invented "We Review the Reviews"! You'll hear her groundbreaking Amazon review on this episode as well!
During our "Podcast Business" section, we talk about some of the commentary we've gotten from listener Melanie Johnson, and how we are currently trying to co-ordinate with her on a day where she can be a guest on the show to defend her position that we have been far too harsh on Summerset.

  • Not a Basic B*tch: We Figure Out Peabody's Enneagram Type
    Hi, Everyone!
The past couple of weeks have been rough on all of your hosts, so we pulled out another one of our "emergency" episodes to play for you all.
We have already given you what we think Eve and Roarke's Enneagram Types would be (Both are 8) and this week we're giving you Peabody's Enneagram Type!
After we figure out Peabody's Enneagram Type, we look at her type paired with Eve's type and it's fascinating!

  • Inappropriate Workplace Shower Sex - We Review "Ritual in Death" by J.D. Robb
This week we are reviewing "Ritual in Death"! This book is a novella that was originally part of the "Suite 606" anthology which included novellas by J.D. Robb, Mary Blayney, Ruth Ryan Lanagan and Mary Kay McComas. Though we've had several novellas before and after this one, the one thing that makes this one a bit weird is that they decided to take one of the novellas, "Wayward Wizard" by McComas, and put those characters into one scene in each of the other novellas. So, if you were someone who read this book and remember thinking the scene where Eve takes a nap in her office and wakes up to a man, a woman and a boy beaming into her office then beaming back out again, that's what that was.
Other than that, this is a typical J.D. Robb novella. Short and to the point. The case is interesting, but gets solved really quickly. This is not a novella that rates high for any of us, but it's not a bad story overall. Some really nice moments in this book. We get to see Isis again, and she has some great lines. We get to meet Maxia Carlyle and we all love her and wish she would have made another appearance in another book. The scene between her and Eve is just gold.
Roarke is going through it in this book because the murder takes place at his hotel and the Murderer(s) take advantage of his people to do it. Eve is going through it because...well...she always does, and because Roarke is. But do you know what makes Roarke feel a bit better? Inappropriate Workplace Shower Sex at Cop Central! Doesn't last for long though because they are back bitching at each other soon after, Isis tells them they need a nap, and she's not wrong.
Eve and Roarke do make up though, and shortly thereafter, Eve takes down the murdering Satanic Cult, and all is once again well in Eve and Roarke Land.

  • Lessons in Hardassery: We Review the Reviews of "Salvation in Death"
We're back with We Review the Reviews! This time for "Salvation in Death." Many of the old standards make an appearance in this episode including:
Nora has a Ghostwriter (because an actual LIBRARIAN said so!)
Too much Sex/Sex scenes are pointless
Too much bad language (but also somehow not as much bad language?)
It's time for Eve and Roarke to start their family
Because of the book's central theme and the fact that the first murder takes place inside a Catholic church, we have several reviewers who tell us about how much Nora Roberts, who's a Catholic, doesn't know anything about the Catholic church. Also, we have one reviewer who feels this book was: "...very disrespectful to my Lord and Saviour."
We have a reviewer that makes us all angry when they say the car sex scene in this book is "white trash behavior" and that all Peabody cares about is "cramming food into her fat face..." among other completely disrespectful shit about the book.
We have someone go off on how much of a "harpy" Eve has become, and how they "can no longer deal with, let alone, enjoy, Eve Dallas, or her outright sadism." They also used big words like "vituperation," but then couldn't be bothered to spell Roarke's name correctly.
    BUT...
There are some really great reviews here also. Like the reviewer who said: "Dallas always gets the bad guy but does it with class." Also, a first time reader who said: "A smooth blend of slightly futuristic, amusingly sensual, compellingly devious fiction; police procedural with a twist; accented by great dialog and fascinating glimpses of future history, plus great characters and a wealth of hidden backstory that makes me eager to read more."
And of course, we always need to have at least one great Susan Ericksen review in which the reviewer states: "She makes it a true production! She is a talented actor who can make the voice of each character sound unique and believable."
    Enjoy!

  • Don't Google "Roarke Pink Panties" - We Discuss Eve's Creative Threats
In this episode, we talk about all the "Creative Threats" that Eve has given to different people in the series. We love them, but we do think there are less of them lately, or else they're a bit softer? We wonder if maybe Nora has decided to back off on these a bit lately due to recent episodes of police brutality? We may be wrong about that (and probably are). It's fiction, after all, and we don't think anyone believes that Eve would ever go through with any of the threats she issues.
We have several that are our own favorites and several that are favorites of our listeners and we go over those.
Lots of eating of eyes and fingers...and one threat to eat asses, which AJ thought Nora may not have thought through well...:)
She also threatens to tie tongues in knots a lot, or choking people with their tongue... or with their balls.
Dana says the most frequent threat is the boot up the ass.
One threat of Eve dressing Roarke in pink panties and taking pictures, and during her research, Jen looked that quote up on Google and got a lot of gay porn? So she advises against that.

  • Father Hottie: We Review “Salvation in Death” by J.D. Robb
For this week’s episode, we are reviewing “Salvation in Death,” and the three of us all have very different reactions to this book! First, AJ has a little rant, because she doesn’t understand why Eve finds Father López so compelling. She also doesn’t understand Eve’s easy acceptance of religion/Catholicism. And, [...]
