Podcast in Death

This week we had planned a different episode topic, but life often interferes, and that happened with this episode. AJ and Jen had already known that Tara had theater and couldn't be with us this week, but then, unfortunately, Jen got sick!

So, what we decided to do is to play an older episode of our Patreon show, "The Briefing Room" where we talked about Eve's Enneagram type.

In this episode, AJ talks a bit about what the Enneagram personality types are. Then, we play the episode where AJ, Jen and Tara take an Enneagram test and answer as we believe Eve would answer. At the end, we get a pretty accurate reading of Eve's Enneagram type, and talk about what traits that the Enneagram model says Eve should have and if they match.

In the future, one of our episodes will be of us doing this same thing with Roarke, and we hope to do this for other characters as well.

In this episode, we talk about "Eternity in Death," which is a novella originally released as part of the "Dead of Night" Anthology.

In this story, Eve is dealing with the death of a young socialite, Tiara Kent (who bears a striking resemblance to Paris Hilton). Tiara looks to have been bitten by a Vampire (at least Peabody thinks so) and Eve is then dealing with a wannabe Vampire Dorian Vadim.

Lots of fun to be had with that theme...Baxter hangs up garlic, Roarke gives Eve a Cross to wear, and Baxter also supplies Eve with a stake to take with her to take down Vadim (which does come in handy, so good job, Baxter!!)

This is a good Halloween themed story, even though we didn't really like it as much as Haunted, but still a good, fun read.

Here we go, everyone, with our We Review the Reviews episode for "Desperation in Death" by J.D. Robb! Since this is such a new book, there's not the amount of reviews to choose from that we have with other titles. Still, we find some doozies.

Since this is such a new book, there's not the amount of reviews to choose from that we have with other titles. Still, we find some doozies.

Our first reviewer found this book to be the "most unpleasant of all the books."

Several reviewers find the book formulaic, yet somehow not?

And Eve hasn't grown at all since her past "shows up in every. single. book." and she needs to "get a shrink."

Someone who wants to know why people have to ask permission from Eve to go into her office and make themselves a cup of her coffee

"Robb's writing is spot on" but somehow the book was "bland and a little disappointing."

And..."ferengi? really?"

One reviewer from Australia charges that Eve: "handed the defence a gift in this?? Assault during an arrest and violation of rights??" AJ takes that comment and goes off on a rant about actual US laws regarding use of force for police, and we go point by point describing the takedown of Iris Beaty, showing how at no point did Eve violate Beaty's rights according to US law.

As we always do, we found a few reviews that praise Susan Ericksen, and one who says: "I hope Nora Robert's is aware of how fortunate she is to have such a fantastic narrator doing her work such justice." (She Does).

We read a great review that states "the series is still so fresh, the characters engaging and entertaining, storyline gritty and suspenseful." And end with one who says the book was "Another Grand Slam AGAIN!!!"

We all think that Roarke has programmed her computer apps to either help her work more efficiently, and more importantly, to clean up her desktop and Chrome tabs before the computer shuts down.

Then we talk about why Eve might have these phobias or issues.

After we have discussed the topic fully, we go through the Fan Profile Questions with Michelle.
