In this episode, we talk about "Memory in Death."

In this one, It's Christmas time, and Eve comes face-to-face with one of her former foster parents, Trudy Lombard, who has come to town to shake Roarke down for money. Seeing Trudy again shocks Eve and throws her off her stride. By the time Eve realizes what exactly Trudy's game is and takes Roarke with her to confront the woman, she finds Trudy dead.

This book has one of everyone's favorite "Scary Roarke" moments, when Roarke threatens Trudy after the woman hints that Roarke might want to pay her to keep Eve's past secret.

Eve goes through a lot of character growth in this one, including a pretty serious marital spat that Eve actually apologizes to Roarke for.

There's an absolutely amazing scene with Eve and our favorite cinnamon roll, Dennis Mira.

This is the first time we meet Tiko (who sells Eve the scarf that she gives to Dennis Mira.)

As we already know from other Christmas themed "In Death" titles, Eve is amazing at giving gifts and so is Roarke, so we get a really great scene between the two of them exchanging their gifts.

BUT, what we did get was a really interesting discussion with listener Dana! Dana has been a listener for a long time, and we were so thrilled to have her with us!

Dana picked the topic for this week, and what she wanted to discuss how "Origin in Death" is really the "Origin" of so many other storylines in the rest of the series. Armed with lots of notes and spreadsheets, Dana walks us through it all.

Dana said that she's a country music fan, and she and Jen then proceeded to give AJ a hard time for not having any Reba McEntire in her playlist.

Dana said she doesn't really listen to other podcasts, only the podcast episodes such as when "Romancing the Shelf" reviewed the first three "In Death" books.

These reviews are odd, because there were very few One Star reviews. We do have one, but most of the reviews are 2 to 5 Stars. But never fear! There are a lot of really interesting reviews for us to discuss here.Starting with our only One Star Review: "Don't Bother."

Then we move on to all the other reviews in which we learn:

There's too much "impotent verbiage and dialogue."

If you get too confused while reading the books, maybe it's not Nora's writing, maybe it's just that you're dumb.

Cloning and Genetics are apparently Science Fiction, and this book had Cloning and Genetics "up the wazoo."

The dialogue is corny, and there's too much repartee and banter. Also, all the rhapsodizing about Eve's new leather coat made the book sound like a gay porn (?)

Eve never thinks about Roarke's needs!

These reviewers don't know Peabody, so they shouldn't be calling her Delia!!

The sex in the books is "Sooooo Fake!" So says a man "fairly experienced in the intimate arts."

Roarke definitely does NOT have "Whiskey Dick."

Also, we talk about Roarke's dick way too much.

Susan Ericksen is sensational.

This book is "bonkers-as-shit."

Charles is definitely NOT a "creepy sleeze."
