Dr Charlotte Marriott is a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS and a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician with a particular interest in neuroscience. She is also Chair of the BSLM Mental Health Special Interest Group. Charlotte likes to inspire and empower her patients to make small changes to their lifestyle habits to improve their physical and mental health and reduce the burden of medication side-effects.
In this episode we talk about:
Defining mental health, stress and psychosis
How the media has influenced our beliefs about mental health problems
The difference between psychiatry and psychology
The fight, flight or freeze stress response
How we can look after our own mental health through lifestyle changes within our control.
Charlotte was an absolute pleasure to speak to and I for one learnt a great deal from this one conversation. I hope you do too!
Please check the show notes for a list of self-help resources that Charlotte has been kind to share.
The views in this episode are Charlotte's personal opinions and do not reflect those of her employer or any other organisation she is associated with.
