David Peterson threw a six-hit, complete game shutout as the New York Mets extended their winning streak to five, defeating the Washington Nationals 5-0. 

Peterson is the story tonight, being absolutely brilliant for the Mets in his first career complete-game shutout. He relied on his calling card, ground-balls, to get it done. 

Offensively, it was another great night for the team. Pete Alonso got it start with an RBI double. Juan Soto hit a two-run home to break it open and then Brandon Nimmo proceeded to add two solo homers himself. 

The Mets go for six in a row and the series sweep tomorrow afternoon with Kodai Senga on the mound.
