* Zach Gallagan informs us that Gremlins will return. He said that Chris Columbus has been actively working on a script. Zach compares the return of the Gremlins similar to the The Force Awakens in that it will honor the first film and original characters while introducing new ones. He said he's unsure if Columbus will return to direct or write the film but as Executive Producer he wishes to get the film correct and avoid the direction of the second film.
* It appears Disney will break the worldwide box office gross in 2016 over 2015's record holder of 2015, Universal Pictures. Universal shocked investors last year with a tally of $6.89 billion last year with successful releases lead by Jurassic World and unexpected hits like Straight Outta Compton. Disney is now $400 million shy of toppling that total and with Rogue One expecting a massive opening, they'll likely beat it.
* Rogue One director Gareth Edwards says he wanted to make Star Wars fans very happy with his film but now he can die happy because he was told by George Lucas that the film was very good.
* Game of Thrones actor Peter Vaughan passed away peacefully at the age of 93. The actor was described as a gentle giant and a consummate professional. He received critical acclaim for his role on British television series Porridge but gained exposure to worldwide audiences as Maester Aemon Targaryan of The Night's Watch.
* Marvel's The Inhumans has taken a step forward. Showrunner Scott Buck who popularized Showtime's Dexter and Marvel's upcoming Iron Fist series has been assigned to The Inhumans, which will debut in 2017.
* Tomb Raider will return to the big screen with Alicia Vikander in the role of Lara Croft. Variety has reported that Walton Goggans will be cast as the main villain. Goggans, a great talent is known for roles in The Shield, Django Unchained and The Hateful 8.
* Fox announces that a new X-Men will begin filming in May of 2017. Rumors and hints that it will be based on Marvel's New Mutants comic series.
* Warner claims they will push back the production of Justice League 2 in 2019 so Zack Snyder can film a passion project titled The Last Photograph. Snyder claims he's wanted to make this film since his breakout hit 300. It follows a war correspondent who is the only survivor from an attack in Afghanastan. The reporter latter meets a spec-ops soldier searching for a family member and hopes this will turn into the story of his career.
* It's rumored that a surprise actor has been cast a spaceship pilot named Branson in Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien Covenant. It's none other than James Franco. This hasn't been confirmed yet but insiders are saying expect it to happen.
* The two biggest rumors regarding Tim Miller's departure as director of deadpool 2 were the desire to make "a bigger movie" and the casting of Kyle Chandler as Cable. He's denied either of those reasons are the case and he wants to assure the nerd and geek community that it was for other reasons entirely.
