In this episode, we discuss reasons why you really should get a HAM radio license, if you own a HAM radio for SHTF.
We also debunk some reasons, or excuses, why some people say they will not get a HAM radio license.
Make it your goal to get that license in 2021. It's really not very hard.
We have articles on our website to help you get that license.
We list resources to help you, including some that are totally FREE.

In Episode #15, our guest is Steve Ayers, the Emergency Coordinator (EC) for St. Clair County, Alabama, Amateur Radio Emergency Services Group (ARES).
In this episode we discuss the role and organization of ARES and how the St Clair group goes further in providing information and services to the community and to served agencies such as the EMA, FEMA, and the Red Cross.
We discuss the events of the killer tornadoes of April 27, 2011, which took the lives of over three hundred lives in Alabama, and the EF-4 tornado that killed a dozen in St. Clair County.
We also discuss getting into ham radio, ham radio testing, and Steve explains ham radio "nets" in detail.
He references the groups Facebook page for those wishing more info, and his e-mail address for those who would like to communicate with him directly.

In episode #14 we cover a number of Christmas gifts for preppers.
We break these gifts in three catagories: $25 and under, $25 - $50, and over $50.
We also discuss a number of sneaky prepping gifts for non-preppers.
These items will make them a bit more prepared, and might help get them started in prepping as it did one of our family members. We tell that story in the podcast.

In episode #13 we do a review of the most popular radio in prepper circles, probably for the very low cost of the radios. However, the stock "rubber duck" antenna is the cause of frustration for many who have purchased this radio. A simple antenna upgrade increases the performance of this radio greatly. Nagoya makes several which are very appropriate for this radio, but be careful, there are a lot of counterfeits out there. We'll tell you how to tell the difference in the genuine and the counterfeits.

After the Stuff Hits The Fan is not the time to begin learning how to use that hand-held HAM radio you bought and put in the bag, "just in case."
A license is required to transmit and you need to transmit to learn your equipment, learn it's capabilities, as well as its limitations.
In episode #12 we discuss what is involved in getting your HAM radio license, what a person with a Technician Class HAM radio operator license can do and many things in which they can become involved.
We give you resources that will help, and we provide links in the show notes below.
Getting your license is really not hard at all.
Drop us an email if we can answer any questions you may have, and certainly let us know when you get your license. We'd love to hear from you.

In this episode we discuss how preppers often prepare for the major SHTF events, which we may never face, but fail to be prepared for the smaller things that we will certainly face.
We need to be sure that we are prepared for the simple as well as the complex.
