You might be wondering if there’s a process for writing thank you cards. Great news! There actually is. I sat down with Steven Littlefield, author of The Business of Gratitude, for an interview as part of my Grateful Entrepreneur Summit, and he outlined his 5-step process for writing thank you cards. We’re mainly talking about thank you cards in terms of using them for your business. But you can use some of these tips for your personal thank you cards.
I’ll share these 5 steps over the next 5 days. The first step is...
1) Forge a gratitude mind-set. First, understand that what you focus on expands. The gratitude mind-set starts with being present and focusing on what is available to you today to be grateful for. If you’re reading this, you’re still breathing. You have your eyesight. Start with being grateful for the things you might take for granted. So the gratitude mind-set is focusing on everything that you can be grateful for.
Then start focusing on people to be thankful for. Think about the people that who are important in your life. When is the last time you expressed gratitude for them with a thank you note? Make a list of people to write and mail cards to.
And so that’s the gratitude mind-set: focus on who you can thank today.
