Danielle talks with Toshi Reagon, musician, artist, curator and creator of "Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower," the rock-opera adaptation of the novel by the same name. Toshi discusses her journey of discovering, developing, and fully realizing her rock-opera, a process that resulted in a fluid show that exists in conversation with the community it addresses and the issues we are facing at any given moment. Toshi & Danielle reflect on the truths that the novel predicted about our world today pre & post the realities of COVID-19. Toshi reflects on the ways in which we react in the face of chaos and views the privilege of sheltering in place as an illuminating opportunity to learn, reflect, grow, organize and power up in response to this pandemic and the systems that govern our lives. Danielle & Toshi discuss the power that art and music have always had as a healing agent. Finally, Toshi encourages us all to dig into the practices that we each already rely on to provide healing and positive energy in our lives, in order to invigorate, connect and persevere through this storm, or as Octavia would say, through these “ever-changing times.” Host: Danielle Moodie Executive Producers: Danielle Moodie & Adell Coleman Producer: Andrew Marshello Distributor: DCP Entertainment
