In Texas, being an outspoken progressive person comes with risks. In a state overrun by MAGA, wearing your belief in equality, compassion and kindness on your sleeve can invite conflict with not only family members and neighbors, but also your boss - thus, now more than in the recent past, it's risky to speak up.
