Our first story was sent in by our founder, Rick Spisak. This is a talk given by two experts and one toxicologist on the Love Canal disaster and how we can formulate strategy to fight other environmental bombs. 

 

The East Palestine BOMB Train was caused by planned negligence. This negligence was signed off on by both democrats and republicans. Last week I discussed how our naton's freight trains use braking systems dating back to the Civil War, more specifically braking systems created in 1868. There is a better braking system but the railroads have actively fought this much needed safety feature as it interferes with unbridled profiteering and new stock buybacks. The East Palestine disaster didn't just 'happen', it was inevitably caused by corporate negligence and political influence peddling. 

And of course, we have our Jackass of the Week Award.

This week on the Environmental Justice Report, I will discuss the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio and how this dangerous event could have been prevented. I will also discuss the illegal arrest of NewsNation reporter Evan Lambert, at the behest of the Ohio National Guard Adjutant, Maj. Gen. John Harris. Maj. Gen. John Harris, it should also be noted, serves on Governor DeWine's official cabinet. These two stories are interlinked as they demonstrate the corruption, arrogance, and criminal negligence baked right into our corporate state. 

We will also have the 'Jackass of the Week" award announced as well.

Staci-lee Sherwood is my guest today. She is a fierce animal rights activist. Her blog and podcast titled Reality Checks. She advocates for the planet and the animal kingdom that are being ravaged by constantly escalating corporate abuse. She is widely published in Emagazine, Discover Science 2020, Palm Oil Detectives and many more. Today she will discuss her very important work, and what we can do to help. I will also discuss the state of school censorship in the USA, as conservatives seek to criminalize speech they dislike, and the idiocy of the GOP with their anti-socialism resolutiion.

This week on PNN, I will discuss the wave of GOP sponsored censorship that is clearly a premeditated systemic attack on the 1st Amendment. Whether its laws that criminalize literature or laws that gag teachers, doctors, etc; the GOP is working feverishly to destroy the 1st Amendment provisions on free speech and free press, unless that speech is consistent with a specific religious and bigoted dogma. So, where are the 1st Amendment heroes? Let's discuss. 

We will also have our recurring "Jackass of the Week" award.

The GOP is determined to end Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid using the debt ceiling device as a way to hold the entire US government hostage. Make no mistake, Kevin McCarthy and his cohorts are determined to extract savage cuts to these programs and they are fine with tanking the good faith credit of the US government. Their plan is to cause chaos so, like Grover Norquist, they can drown the US government ..."in a bathtub." So, today's show will explain the debt ceiling and the associated lies the GOP has fed to achieve their singular goal, which is to force the average American to work--until they drop dead. There is a solution and we will discuss that as well.

PNN began in Florida, and it is befitting that it highlight the mockery DeSantis and his GOP trolls have made of the Bill of RIghts. K-12 teachers working with minor children are censored in terms of multiple subjects to the point of lunacy. Now, DeSantis pushes to censor university professors from teaching the TRUTH about systemic racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. in this nation. These laws are reminiscent of the old Nazi regime of Hitler. Tonight, I will examine the history behind such censorship, and the legal argument against it. 

Ron DeSantis is a national disgrace, and the fact that he was reelected in Florida is an even bigger disgrace.

It's Christmas today, and the GOP of White Christian Nationalism has delivered in various ways that would make the pagans of ancient Rome proud. Overnight, Texas Governor Greg Abbott continued to authorize sending buses of migrants to Washington D.C. to be ceremoniously dumped into the arctic temperatures, while dressed for a day at the beach. The fact that these migrants are people of color did not escape Governor Abbott. Why should it? After all, that was THE PLAN. 

Ironically, Governor Abbott brags about being a devout Christian, while conveniently ignoring the fact that the saviour he worships was ALSO a man of color and yes---dare I say it--AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. 

Governor Abbott and the GOP of Trump seriously needed a visit from the spirits that converted Scrooge, but frankly, I think such effort would be wasted. It is painfully clear that the lesson which Jesus taught are wasted on these White Christian Nationalists, including Greg Abbott.

This week on PNN, I am talking about the GOP defamation wars. The most recent target has been US Congresswoman Katie Porter. A republican colleague, Congressman Ronnie Jackson not only accused Porter of making excuses for pedophiles, but he accused all progressives of the same in a tweet. Jackson is joined by the equally infamous creator of the Libs of TikTok, Chaya Raichik. Keep in mind, neither Ronnie Jackson nor Chaya Raichik have a single shred of evidence to back their defamatory accusations, but they based those accusations on spliced sections of actual congressional testimony being collected by Katie Porter. This incidence is merely the latest incarnation of the GOP War on Truth, using a propaganda machine that routinely slanders, libels and defames. The time is long overdue to start suing these purveyor s of lies. This is our big story. 

Our second story deals with the slow pace of criminal prosecutions against the organizers of the Jan. 6th insurrection. Yet another republican, Congressman Ralph Norman, was caught having sent texts to Mark Meadows demanding Trump implement Martial Law. These texts include more members of Congress than was previously reported. This insurrection was also built on a propaganda lie machine 

And of coruse, we have our Jackass of the Week Award!

This week's programming has changed. I am going to cover the ongoing criminalization of actual journalism, the ongoing quest to extradite Julian Assange, a an older bill which was renewed that would halt government prosecutions of journalists, for using their 1st amendment rights. But first, I will talk about another bill that would extend copyright claims to links.

Journalistic giant Daniel Ellsberg has also entered he fray, daring the Biden DOJ to charge him, since he was in receipt of the WikiLeaks files. Journalists worldwide are banding together to fight ongoing governnment suppression of the truth. In Congress, the present House passed a bill that would protect journalists, and there is a senate version that is being duly ignored by Chuck Schumer and other corporate dems. The bill is the "Protect Reporters from Excessive State Suppression" or the PRESS Act. The PRESS Act passed the House unanimously but has been shuttled to the trash in the Senate. This bill can become law IF the Senate votes to pass it, and Biden signs off, but corporate dems are running out of time. Frankly, I question if corporate dems are 'running out the clock' in true cowardly fashion. 

This bill must become law, given the move towards fascism in this country. We don't need empty symbolism of watching Hakeem Jeffries become the next democratic minority leader in the House, when the lauded diversity is merely cosmetic, not reflecting a true diversity of thought. 

Our second story deals with Kyrsten Sinema. Her sudden departure from the Democratic party has been billed by Sinema as an honest attempt to break with 'division' and 'partisanship,' It is neither. Sinema has been a disruptor her entire Senate career and her departure from the Dems provides her with more opportunity to extort influence from both sides of the political aisle.

Donald Trump had dinner with noted anti-semite Kanye West (or 'Ye'), and noted Nazi sympathizer Nick Fuentes. After the fallout, Trump laughingly claimed he didn't know Fuentes. Now, Fuentes broadcasts from the very network that has been by Trump's side since 2017, namely "Right Side Broadcasting." It is hard to believe that Trump doesn't pay any attention to the group that has been loyal to him without fail. In any case, this story will speak to not only the growing Nazism in the USA, but the moral cowardice of the GOP and corporate media. The shameful truth is that the USA has tolerated Nazism for decades now, as long as it is wrapped in the flag and the cross.
