Joti Brar sums up the US imperialists’ war on Iran, which has now been raging for a full month.
1. USA’s war is illegal aggressive and unjust
2. The criminality and barbarity is unsurpassed, and the crass boasting of trump about murdering the grandfather of the revolution, and leader of the Shia faith, Ali Hosseini Khamenei (19 April 1939 – 28 February 2026) along with his family and baby grand-daughter as well as other other assassinations and strikes on civilian targets, show the depth of US depravity.
3. The US plan was decapitation, regime change, balkanisation, domination and occupation with looting of Iran’s resources guaranteeing the ongoing looting of the entire Middle East.
4. This was a total failure. And there is no plan B. The stated objectives change and it can have escaped no-one that the aim if “opening the strait of Hormuz” could not possibly have been an objective of the war at the outset. As at the outset, the straight of Hormuz was already open!
5. Trump is now simply adding atrocity to atrocity. This is a sign of his and the USA’s desperation and failure.
6. Minab was a deliberate atrocity aimed to break the spirit if the IRGC and the nation. It had the opposite effect. It is a war crime for which the US in defeat will be held accountable.
7. The Labour government and Party is fully involved and fully complicit in this criminal war. There is no such thing as a defensive participation in an aggressive war. Starmer as a “lawyer” knows this better than anyone. His weasel words fool only the credulous, misguided by the mainstream media.
8. Our trade union and anti-war movement have singularly failed in their duty to stop the war. A feat that IS within the power of the British working class.
9. Sharon Graham, general secretary of Unite the Union, has led a protest at Downing Street - demanding MORE weapons manufacture - and therefore SUPPORTING the war! This is the OPPOSITE of the role a real working class union and anti-war movement should be playing. We must discard such “leaders” and expose them as clowns and agents.
10. The only correct slogans to take to the anti-war movement and wider working class are:
“Victory to Iran!” and “No cooperation with the war machine!”

Venezuela’s fundamental social-democratic achievements – the education, the health missions, the housing programmes, the pensions and welfare, the nationalised utilities – are all being preserved. Acting-president Rodríguez’s strategy in this time of full-scale US economic onslaught is one of grim endurance: hunker down, preserve what can be preserved, and wait for a change of political wind in Washington. The tragedy is that this woman must endure the portrayal abroad, spread from Washington, as a traitor to her class and her country. A friend who has known her for decades says: ‘She is doing what she can to keep the peace in this time of war.’

April 15 Eritrea: A Nation Defying Imperialism 2016
In 1993, a new African nation emerged from decades of armed struggle: the state of Eritrea.
Situated on the Red Sea, this young republic has spent the last 30 years building sovereignty and self-reliance in a world determined to undermine it.
This documentary takes us inside Eritrea to meet the people building a society on their own terms. We hear from President Isaias Afwerki, from veterans of the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front, who fought for 30 years against occupation, from women who served on the frontlines, and from ordinary working people building schools, hospitals and agricultural cooperatives.
What emerges is a picture the western media won’t show you: a nation that achieved the UN’s Millennium Development Goals ahead of schedule through self-propelled development, not charity. A nation that rejected World Bank ‘conditionalities’ and wrote its own development programme. A nation which understands that you cannot build sovereignty while taking orders from those who colonised you.
The film doesn’t shy away from the hard questions. Why does Eritrea have ‘such bad press’? Why do the same media outlets that cheerlead for every imperialist intervention suddenly discover ‘human rights concerns’ when a country says ‘No’ to foreign bases and resource extraction? The answer, as one interviewee puts it, lies in understanding who pays the journalists and whom they serve.
This is not propaganda. This is solidarity: listening to people tell their own story, in their own words, about what it took to win independence and what it takes to keep it.
This is essential viewing for all those fighting against disinformation and the imperialist propaganda machine. And it is essential viewing for all those who want to understand the nature of imperialism and what it takes to defeat it.
Anyone who really stands with the oppressed needs to look into and start to understand what is happening in Eritrea
