Hello and welcome to the latest episode of the Leadership in Insurance Podcast where this week we are lucky enough to be joined by Dax Craig, co-founder and president of Pie Insurance.

Pie doesn’t need much of an introduction to those of us in the insurtech world, but for those who don’t know Pie, they are a workers’ compensation insurer with a direct distribution model and a fully digital experience. Their aim is to serve small businesses with insurance that is easy, accessible and affordable.

We dig into what it takes to grow an insurtech, Pie’s journey from start up to scale up and how our goalposts can change. We discuss the lessons learnt and the process of getting things wrong - sometimes its a case of right thesis, wrong application. We chat about culture and the balancing act of managing culture at scale - “We wouldn’t lie to our clients, we apply the same to our team”, as Dax puts it, “We don’t have all the answers, but we admit it”.
