Two journalists stumble into a dying town with a Smog Museum and a mayor named Piglet… and not a whole lot else. They have one burning question: What’s it like to live here, in a town left for dead? They buy a house and stay – for three years. They get caught up in an election cycle and a web of scandals. It’s democracy in action on the smallest scale. It’s Our Town for our time. And it’s all real. Cement City is an Audacy original in partnership with Cement City Productions.

In September 2013, three friends chatting on a bridge over the Vartry Reservoir near Dublin noticed a series of disturbing items floating in the water: handcuffs, shackles, rope, a woman’s top, leg restraints, and a leather face mask with a gag ball. Additionally, among the recovered items were also two cell phones containing extremely graphic text messages between individuals labeled "Master" and "Slave." Then, the following day, a dog walker stumbled upon decomposed human remains in a wooded area near the reservoir. Tragically, the connection between these macabre discoveries unraveled a nightmarish tale of BDSM and murder, and revealed the absolutely devastating descent of Elaine O'Hara, an innocent and vulnerable woman who fell prey to the horrifically twisted fantasies of a depraved killer.
TRIGGER WARNING: This case contains extremely disturbing content and includes difficult discussions of sexual assault, self-harm, and suicide. Please listen with caution.

In the face of death, most would run—it’s human nature to flee from danger, to protect oneself, to cling to life. But on September 11, 2001, as chaos engulfed the South Tower of the World Trade Center, Welles Remy Crowther defied that instinct. Amid the smoke and fire, with the ground shaking beneath him and flames licking at his skin, he chose not to run. Instead, he repeatedly charged back into the inferno, not for himself, but to save others. Driven by something far stronger than fear, he guided the lost, comforted the wounded, and led the terrified to safety. He knew the risks—each step could be his last—but his deep sense of duty and compassion never wavered. In those moments of unimaginable terror, he saved 18 lives. This man, who faced death without flinching, who stood as a beacon of courage and selflessness in the darkest of times, was The Man in the Red Bandana.

The torment of a parent discovering that their child has been murdered is a searing, primal agony that defies articulation—a force that blends heartache, fury, and helplessness, leaving a deep, forever open wound on the soul. While such horror is unimaginable and "next steps" seem unconceivable, André Bamberski's immediate response to his daughter's murder was extraordinary: he transformed his heartbreak into a relentless, three-decade-long pursuit of justice. His quest unfolds like an international spy thriller, weaving together a web of intrigue, suspicious autopsy reports, forged documents, and whispers of a government cover-up. Yet, at its core, this story is about a brokenhearted father, bound by his duty to his daughter. This is the story of André Bamberski and his quest for vigilante vengeance on behalf of his beloved child, Kalinka.

The horrific case of Colleen Stan is one of the most terrifying and unbelievable tales of torture, captivity, and survival in modern history. In Part 1 of our two-part coverage, we lay the foundation of how 20-year-old Colleen Stan was abducted by Cameron and Janice Hooker, a sadistic couple in California who fulfilled their depraved goal of sexually enslaving "a girl who couldn’t say no.” What followed after Colleen's abduction was seven years of unimaginable torment, as Colleen was forced to wear a wooden box over her head and/or lay in a coffin-sized box for 23 hours per day while being subjected to extreme physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. This case, often referred to as "The Girl in the Box," delves into the darkest corners of human depravity and explores the terrifying depths of control and manipulation. TRIGGER WARNING: This case contains extremely disturbing and graphic content and includes difficult discussions of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape. Please listen with caution!

In this episode of Slaterpedia, we discuss the truly devastating (and recent) case of beautiful Oksana Kuzmenko, who was burned alive by her ex-boyfriend in Russia before he nailed her to a wood plank as part of a staged crucifixion. This is a truly harrowing case that not only demonstrates the depths of human depravity, but also the ability to endure and survive. TRIGGER WARNING: please note that this episode is graphic in nature and discusses domestic violence. Please listen with caution.

The Fappening, also known as "Celebgate," refers to a massive leak of private, often intimate, photographs of celebrities that occurred in 2014. The incident, which primarily targeted female celebrities, involved hackers gaining unauthorized access to personal cloud storage accounts and distributing the stolen images online for the entire world to see. Among the victims were high-profile figures like Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Kirsten Dunst. The Fappening highlighted serious concerns about digital privacy, cybersecurity, and the vulnerability of personal data. Additionally, the incident sparked debates on victim-blaming and the objectification of women, as many of the victims faced public scrutiny despite being the ones whose privacy was violated.

The Mary Kay Letourneau case is a shocking and highly disturbing saga that delves deep into the realms of moral corruption, power, and exploitation. Letourneau, a once-respected school teacher, wife, and mother of four, engaged in an ongoing clandestine "relationship" with her 13-year-old student, Vili Fualaau, whom she groomed and repeatedly raped. She even went on to give birth to two of his children. This shocking scandal continues to both disturb and fascinate the public, as it challenges deeply held beliefs about predatory behavior and the intricate power dynamics influenced by gender.
