This episode encourages you to take control of your birthing experience by understanding labor stages, learning about different pushing positions, and trusting your instincts.
Trish cannot emphasize enough the value of being educated to minimize fear and anxiety, while sharing practical advice for preventing 3rd to 4th degree tearing, and advocating for your own birthing preferences.
“You have to understand the stages of labor, because the movements that you do pre labor, during early labor, during active labor, during transition, and during pushing are so different in some ways.
And it all really depends on the passenger, the baby. So, you have to be educated, you have to take an evidence based birth class so that you can recognize what stage of labor you're in, and you have to take a class that teaches you how to move your body.
Your body is powerful, and your voice is critical in the labor room.” - Trish
