PUSHING BACK CHAOS episodes

  • PBC, Ep: 040 - Void of Light

Join Melon, Mike, and Raf as they dive into a topic that is unanimously agreed as void of light. And that’s the topic of human trafficking. They share a lot of personal stories that show the scale and possibility of this cancer reaching most homes. They simply wanted to take the time and effort to bring attention to this crime against humanity. More importantly, they felt compelled to share what “we” can do as a nation, as a species, to help prevent these atrocities from being grown in scale. Of course, with the ultimate goal of snuffing it out completely. They understand the weight of the topic as individuals, but also on the listeners. They end this episode with practical tools and axioms that have been proven to prevent kids and the most vulnerable to get sent down this dark road. Similarly, they talk about organizations that are actively out in the front lines combating this unadulterated evil. But most importantly, they unanimously agreed that the fate of the success of a society, lies heavily on what we do to cultivate a strong, resilient, and happy child. This starts with actively taking steps to end this evil cancer from our homes, our streets, our nations, and our planet.

  • PBC, 039 - Building, maintaining, and reestablishing trust.

It’s the bedrock of everyday life. We trust our family, closest friends, work colleagues, teammates, and lets even say fellow drivers to stay inside the lines.

Trust is not just given freely or achieved without effort. Some of us aim to create trust, some are struggling to maintain it, and in some cases, some wish to reestablish trust after it has just been broken on your behalf or from another.

In this episode we welcome back previous guest Cameron “Hammy” Hamilton and discuss:

    1. Why trust is important and what is gained from it.

    2. How to build trust in a group or organization.

    3. How to respond to a breach of trust.

What have been some of your experiences with trust? How have you built it? Maintained it? Or repaired it? We’d love to hear from you!

  • PBC, 038 - Servant Leadership

Servant leadership- removal of road blocks and the provision of resources to the team achieving the mission or goal.

When you find yourself in a position of being a leader of the people, one of the most important things to remember is that you are there to serve them and their needs while guiding them from A to B. They work for you and you work for them in all aspects in order to ensure cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental preparedness.

This week we welcome an expert on leadership, with years of experience both in the field and in corporate settings. Our special guest is Cameron Hamilton, former member of the US military community and now a member at the Department of Homeland Security.

The culture starts with the leader. You can’t expect something you’re not living personally. If you want a family environment, then you need to invest that time and energy to know your people like family. Serve them. Lead them!

What is your leadership style? Do you even know the kind you have? Do you know which you should be? Can you employ different styles at different times in order to ensure the most beneficial outcome?

Be prepared to take some notes!

  • PBC, Ep: 037 - Finding Peace after a Setback or Loss

In the event that we end up failing in a situation, lose a relationship, or just not meeting the mark on a goal, how can we proceed forward to find and maintain a new sense of peace within ourselves?

In this episode, Tio Raf shares quite the surprising but real life recent personal experience that pitted him against some of his worst fears, forcing him to “hug the cactus.” This one surprised us all!!! LOL

Melon shares his process on how he worked through receiving the bad news and then choosing to accept the bad news of his daughters blindness and wife’s cancer diagnosis. “You can choose to accept the bad news and adjust to the new reality.”

Mike shares some thoughts and tips on how his previous self dealt with loss and failure, but then how his current self has been more prepared. “There is no more win and lose. Just win or learn.”

What are some ways you get through loss or failure? How have you created your peace from the chaos of loss?

  • PBC, 036 - Dichotomy of Reputation

Join Melon, Mike, and Raf  as they talk about the dichotomy of your reputation. Simply put, they try and navigate the conversation on the benefits and drawbacks to either taking the hard long road of earning a reputation in your craft, by simply doing the job for years, upon years, with no recognition. In contrast, to faking your expertise, and hoping to learn what you need in short order, to keep the appearance up of a skill set you may not have mastered completely. The later commonly referred to as, “Fake it, ‘Til You Make it.” The boys recognize that there are benefits to both. They unanimously agree, however that the drawbacks and potential for missteps coming off as a fraud are countless. One of the more severe of those potential drawbacks is completely destroying your reputation with those people that you hold in the highest regard.

The conversation quickly goes to dire warnings to the young generation of the perils of purposely holding up a fraudulent facade, whether it’s in real life, or on social media. Unfortunately, the guys agree that the current culture incentivizes fraudulent behaviors, and rewards it in many forms.  In the end, the path to success and a steadfast reputation comes best served with a long stead history of doing the job, with zero expectations of seeking accolades. Instead, focusing on mastering that craft that you seek, and letting your knowledge of it be the reward.

  • PBC, Ep: 034 - If you stay ready, you don’t need to get ready.

Goals. No matter how big or small they are, we must aim for them. They give us a direction, purpose, and challenges to test our metal on all fronts. This is the beginning stages of achievement.

What we must also be conscious of is that some goals are the wrong ones to aim for. Some are unhealthy, unrealistic, or very misleading. They may bring temporary satisfaction, but long term derailment.

If we are consistently striving to extend and reach further than our current selves, we begin to grow, learn, and achieve “the next level” we desire to hurdle our future obstacles, whatever they may be.

When you envision your best day, will you be prepared to fully enjoy and celebrate it best way possible?

When you envision your worst day, will you be who you want to be in those moments….or crumble?

Establishing the road of goals to both is crucial. Listen as the the team discusses their own goals on their path to their own legacies.

  • PBC, Ep: 033 - Who will you create yourself as this year?

“It’s unfortunate that this has happened. No. It’s fortunate that this has happened and I’ve remained unharmed by it.”

    ― Marcus Aurelius

This year will bring challenges and opportunities. Who will you have to be to generate the best possible outcomes for yourself and your life this year?

Join your hosts in this conversation as they look forward and consider the topic of creating themselves in new ways to be their best.

In the various areas of life that are important to each of us, we can either move forward as we always have, or we can attempt to deliberately create ourselves with intention, so that we can have the experience of moving towards being our best selves.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given their similar careers and close friendship, several of the ways of being that are envisioned by your hosts have areas of overlap.

Raf will be creating himself as:

    - Game ready

    - Exercising his willpower daily

    - Reframing his thoughts away from a victim mentality

    Melon talks about being:

    - Ready

    - Assertive

    - Loving,

    - and possessing an Abundance mentality

    Mike is looking to be:

    - Organised

    - Emotionally balanced

    - Spiritually aware and open

Who do you need to be to have an amazing year ahead? How will you build situational awareness to become your best self as you confront life over the next twelve months?

Let us know what comes up for you and how you are answering the question, “Who will you create yourself as this year?”

  • PBC, Ep: 032 - Spiritual Identity: Who are you?

When someone asks you this question, what comes to mind first? Is it a role?, a job title?, a simple cookie cutter answer?

Lets face it, it can be a hard question to really answer. Most of the time it is because we are going with the everyday flow of tasks that need completed and we can lose track of who we are truly supposed to be. So what can we use to figure this out?

Our true purpose and significance in our lives are great indicators of our true identities. So instead of asking “What do i do?”, Instead, in certain moments, ask “Who do I need to be?”

Join us this week as the trio launches their first video episode and shares their true “identities”

  • PBC, 031 - 2022 In Review

Join Melon, Mike, and Raf on their final episode of 2022, where they look back in review, and talk about their way forward into 2023. They cover some brief high lights of 2022, and how those events impacted them, individually and collectively. Most notably, they talk about the unseemly barrage of chaos that’s been cultivated by these world events, and how that’s affected them. Melon shares his most recent experience while at home, in his native land of Australia. Rekindling old relationships with his family there, and how that’s reinvigorated him to align his existence with what’s important moving forward. Mike reflects on all the past challenges that he’s been dealt, and the profound realization that he owes all his joy and success to those past failures and gut wrenching pain. And if given a choice, he wouldn’t change a single moment. Finally, Raf shares his prognosis on the chaos of 2022, and the mantras he’s developed to tackle 2023.

The guys talk about the importance of understanding that, “Help Isn’t Coming!” Simply put, you are your own rescuer. You need to look deep inside you, to make your goals and aspirations, and develop the resolutions for the chaos that’s headed your way. Anecdotally, Raf impressions the importance of unplugging from all the things in life that seem to bring us down, yet have no direct physical impact. For 2023, we encourage you to unplug from the news, unplug from hours of wasted screen sucking on social media, unplug from politics and just focus on you! Find your purpose, so you can deny the pleasure seeking mentality. Finally, 2023 will be our best year yet, if we apply everything we’ve learned these last 2 years. Make them habitual, make them concrete. And more importantly, become the fucking savage you know you were born to be.
