Quarantine Ep. 3: Hand Washing and Heart Washing

There’s been a lot of talk about hand washing lately, as the CDC continually reminds us of the importance of washing our hands during a pandemic.

We’re a hand washing family, and we always emphasize hand washing whether or not there’s a national crisis. But with all the talk about hand washing lately, it’s no surprise that as I was reading through the book of Mark recently, the chapter on hand washing stood out to me like never before.

Hand + Heart Washing

Jesus and his disciplines were confronted by the religious leaders of the time and criticized for their lack of ceremonial hand washing. Jesus’ response to those leaders was so powerful, and so applicable to today.

So I’m calling today’s episode Hand Washing and Heart Washing, and I hope you’ll take a minute to tune into this perspective on ways that we can focus in on spiritual cleansing during this time where our tendency is just to focus on physical cleanliness.
