As we transition from our week of trans awareness, we mourn the loss of Girlalala, a 21 year-old TikTok trans influencer. A Judge sides with Trans Kids in Philadelphia
We have a victory for trans youth in Philadelphia as a federal judge sided against the department of justice's request for access to medical records of children who underwent gender-affirming care at a children's hospital. U.S. District Court Judge Mark A. Kearney sided with the children's hospital of Philadelphia. The city of Boston had a similar win back in September as U.S. federal Judge Myong J. Joun blocked a subpoena sent by the Department of Justice to Boston's Children's hospital.
It's World AIDS Day to everyone but the Trump Administration
December 1st has been known as World AIDS day since its conception in 1988. It has been a day honored world wide, however this year, the Trump administration has decided to not observe World AIDS day this year. This is a big shift from last year when the Biden administration honored the day by hosting a display of a selection of panels from the original AIDS memorial quilt at the White House. State department employees were directed via email to "refrain from publicly promoting World AIDS Day through any communication channels, including social media, media engagements, speeches or other public-facing messaging,"

Up to 2 million dollars is on the line here for these individuals as people who serve in the air force for 15-18 years are guaranteed retirement pay for life (including healthcare. In the light of Trump's bill earlier this year that sought to remove trans people from the military, The Air Force said that affected members who served 15-18 years could apply for a waiver that would grant them the retirement plan. They then denied them their retirement benefits.

This Week's Top Story
A Kim Davis Update + The Supreme Court
We follow up on the Supreme Court's Decision to toss out Kim Davis' appeal. The Supreme Court has decided to hear oral arguments for the cases of West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox. The states at the center of these cases, West Virginia and Idaho, both have laws that restrict trans girls participation in school sports. Should the court rule in favor of the states, there's a strong concern that this could set a precedent for even more discrimination against trans people.
This Week In Politics
Texas Issued a Partial Drag Performance Ban
A Federal appeals court allowed the State of Texas to revisit a ruling made in 2023 that was intended to ban drag performances in the vicinity of people under 18. The law as it stands currently bans performances that contain nude performers in the presence of people under 18. The diction around this potential ban is so vague that it opens up room for legal discrimination against all drag performers regardless of their show's content. Venues that hold performances that go against the Senate 12 law can face a fine of up to $10,000 dollars and performers could face a Grade A misdemeanor if found guilty.

Our Crosswalks Are Being Destroyed
Tons of new and harmful legislation has been passed this year. We are now at the point where these policies begin to impact how we actually live. But in this world of rapidly changing laws, these stories from Miami, Dallas, and New York offer examples of small ways communities are fighting back in this cultural round-up about crosswalks and film festivals.

Tune-in to reporting which centers & celebrates all of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & comrade communities. Hosted by Anna DeShawn. New pod drops every Monday by 9am CT.

Family, this week on Queer News, Anna DeShawn continues to bring you the stories that matter most to our community and this one is critical in the fight for our rights.
We have a powerful, breaking news interview with Chicago's own Alderperson Jesse Fuentes (26th Ward), who was illegally handcuffed by ICE agents at Humboldt Park Health hospital simply for asking about a signed warrant. Hear directly from Alderperson Fuentes about the terrifying confrontation, what it means to be leading with courage against rising fascism, and why she is taking the monumental step of suing the federal government for assault, battery, and false arrest.
This is more than one story; it's a conversation about using every tool we have from the courts to rapid response teams to defend our community.
We all we got. Check the show notes for links to get information on Know Your Rights training's and mutual aid funds.
