#008 –This week, my guest is Olivia Hertzog. She’s a private chef and coach, focused on a raw-vegan lifestyle. I am excited to have her on to talk about her top five tips for helping people transition to a healthier way of eating. While she focuses on eating raw and mostly fruit-based, this show will be helpful if you are looking to transition how you eat, regardless of whether it’s just adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet or making a bigger shift to veganism, vegetarianism or even all-raw. Her tips are broad enough that it will be beneficial, regardless of what path you’re on.
One of the other reasons that I wanted to have Olivia on the show is because she has been traveling full-time around the US in an RV, while eating healthy. I love traveling, so talking about how to maintain a lifestyle while traveling full time is one of my favorite topics, but she provides a good example of how to eat well while being out and about and enjoying life.
Olivia is a raw vegan private chef and coach. She lives in her RV and travels around the US teaching people how to adopt a fruit-based diet. She has been personally eating a fruit-based diet for over 4 years. Next year she is hosting several Raw Food Retreats around the US. And online "cooking" classes to teach others how to prepare fruit-based, raw-food recipes!

#007 - My guest on this episode is Whitney Oppenhuizen and we’re talking about establishing boundaries and releasing emotional triggers. This topic is important to a health journey because we often need to make more space in our lives for the changes that we’re making and this work helps to interrupt patterns to which both we and people around us have become accustomed. Whitney has some very practical suggestions and tips for you that I think you’ll find helpful, especially during this holiday season.

#006 - This is the second part of my conversation with Shauna Yorty, who founded Reclaim Teas in 2016.
In Episode 5, we talked about how her lifelong health issues got worse after having a baby at a young age, her struggle with a Lyme diagnosis, and how finding Medical Medium’s work had an immediate positive impact on her healing story.
In this episode, Shauna talks about getting pregnant after being told by doctor’s that she couldn’t. Through this, we shine the light on the scariest parts of her health journey, and explore her work around shame and guilt around experiencing a significant setback. And last but certainly not least, we talk about the power of teas, not only the physical healing properties but also the energetic and spiritual powers of tea.
This is an extremely powerful and important episode, especially if you’ve experienced any setbacks in your own health journey.

#005 - My guest is Shauna Yorty, who founded Reclaim Teas in 2016. Her health journey is so amazing that I’ve split our conversation into two episodes (episodes #005 and #006) because I think the journey that she has been on is so common and what she has gone through is so moving. She is extremely honest and very vulnerable about the struggles that she has dealt with, the healing that she’s experienced as well as the setbacks and how she coped with those and I think you’ll find this very valuable in the context of your own health journey.
Here in Episode #005, we walk through how her health had deteriorated after a very difficult first pregnancy at an early age, how Lyme symptoms and chronic anxiety and depression had significant consequences her life, and how seeing dozens of doctors and specialists never brought the relief she had hoped for. This all led to Shauna’s realization of “I am what I eat”, her connection to herbalism, and some additional revelations that I think you’ll find inspiring.
Shauna Yorty has practiced herbalism since 2012, including a 5-year internship at an organic herb farm. After adopting a Medical Medium lifestyle in 2015, she founded Reclaim Teas in 2016, which offers tea blends, including some based on recipes by Medical Medium.

RECIPES FROM THE SHOW:
Pecan and Maple Sweet Potatoes
(Adapted from Deliciously Ella)
3 medium sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2T maple syrup
Olive oil
Sea salt and pepper
½ cup of pecans (halves or pieces)
Pre-heat the oven to 400°F. Put the sweet potato wedges on a baking sheet lined with unbleached parchment paper.
Sprinkle the cinnamon across the wedges and also one tablespoon of the maple syrup, plus a ‘glug’ of olive oil. Mix with your fingers to coat the potatoes, then spread the potatoes across the baking sheet. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt and pepper, if desired. Roast for 45 mins, turning them about halfway through.
While the potatoes are roasting, mix the pecans with one tablespoon of maple syrup. After the potatoes have cooked for 45 minutes, sprinkle the pecan mixture on top of the potatoes and then cook for another 5-10 minutes so that the pecans are crunchy.
Roasted Whole Carrots
(Adapted from Deliciously Ella)
1 to 1 ½ pounds Multi-colored carrots (about 16 small/medium carrots)
Olive oil
1T maple syrup
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp paprika (regular or smoked)
4 Medjool dates (pitted and chopped)
Sea salt to taste
Pre-heat the over to 425°F. Place the carrots (whole) on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil, maple syrup, cumin, cumin seeds, the paprika, and a little salt (if desired) over the carrots. Toss the carrots around with a wooden spoon or your hands until the carrots are coated. Roast for 30 minutes. Shake the pan half way through to ensure even cooking. After 30 minutes, remove the baking sheet and add the dates. Mix with a wooden spoon and return to the oven for another 10 minutes.
All of the recipes don't fit here so please download the Holiday Recipes PDF for more recipes!
