Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and'30s.

Rapidly Rotating Records Show – July 23, 2017

Wecome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and'30s.

No one correctly guessed what the "one thing in common" was among the 16 records on last week's show, but you can find out what it was by just listening to this week's show. But the good news is, you still have a chance to win the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra's CD "Step With Pep." And the better news is that you don't have to do anything to win. No questions, no guesses, nothing. Well, other than simply send an email to [email protected] to let me know that you'd like the CD. Send you email by midnight (Pacific) on Saturday, July 29. A winner will be drawn at random from all the emails received. And your odds are easily better than winning the California Lottery! GOOD LUCK!

On this week's edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, we're back to our regular five segments and five topics. We're going to go far away, we'll find out what's new, we'll venture into the dark, we'll tread lightly and find out what everyone's doing. Per usual, there are at least a couple of records making their RRR debut. If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page. And remember, your requests and topoic segments are always welcome. As a matter of fact, one of the records on this week's show is a request.

RRR is also available as a podcast on iTunes. Simply enter Rapidly Rotating Records in the iTunes search box and a link to the show will appear. Our iTunes ID has changed, and is now https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/rapidly-rotating-records/id1166703514. Unfortunately, with the change, we lost all of the comments and ratings for the podcast. If you use iTunes, please subscribe to the podcast and leave a rating and comment. THANK YOU!

We are proud and happy to announce that Rapidly Rotating Records is now being rebroadcast by Global Community Radio and can be heard over WRST 90.3 Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the broadcast service of the University of Wisconsin. We're heard on WRST's internet stream on Saturdays at 8:00 AM (Eastern). We're also now heard on WXDR, 98.9, in New Orleans, Louisiana. We haven't had a "One Thing in Common" show in a while, and it's been even longer since we've had a contest. But with this week's show, we've got both! All 16 of the records on this week's show have "one thing in common and if you can figure it out, you'll have a chance to win a copy of the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra's CD titled "Step With Pep." Send an email with your answer as to what the 16 records in the show have in common to [email protected] by midnight on Saturday, July 22 and if you're correct, you could win the PRSO CD. If you don't yet have a copy of "Step With Pep" and don't happen to win the contest, you can easily get your copy at RivermontRecords.com. Good luck and Enjoy the Show!

While you're listening to the original broadcast of this show, I'm in Virginia on a business trip. I was born in Virginia, but I don't think the Commonwealth has ever had its own segment on the show. Well, we're making up for that with not one, but TWO Virginia segments! We'll also keep things simple, go on patrol and hear about some soldiers. Several records on this week's show are making their RRR debut, so let us know which is your favorite.

Rapidly Rotating Records Show – May 14, 2017

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and'30s.

Last week I mentioned that on Saturday, May 20, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles will host the 15th annual Avalon Ball in the Catalina Casino Ballroom. But that's not the only big event going on that week-end. If you can't get to the island, get yourself to Culver City for the Jolson Festival, sponsored by the International Al Jolson Society. Complete information is on the Society's website at www.jolson.org. And in honor of the Jolson Festival, the third segment of this week's show is devoted to Al Jolson. We're also going to spend some time in the kitchen, do some weeping, and celebrate Douglas Furber's birthday and Mother's Day. Several records on this week's show are making their RRR debut, so let us know which is your favorite.

THANK YOU!

The Rapidly Rotating Records telephone request line is waiting for your call! In addition to sending cards or letters, sending email, or posting to the the show's website or facebook page, you can now call in to request a particular artist, song or topic segment, leave feedback about the show, or ask questions or comment about the music. Of course, I'd be happy if you just call in to say "Hi!" and let me know you're out there listening. Listen to the show for the easy-to-remember number.

We're also proud and happy to now be rebroadcast over Global Community Radio! We're on GCR's music channel GRC-2 and can be heard on the University of Wisconsin's station WRST-FM 90.3 in Oshkosh at www.wrst.org Saturday mornings at 8 AM (Eastern).  Wwe're also now heard on WXDR, 98.9, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and'30s.

This edition of Rapidly Rotating Records was delayed due to computer issues, but they were resolved *relatively* quickly and inexpensively and we're back up and running. Unfortunately, this show has some time sensitive information, but as they say, better late than never. I believe I've played a contemporary recording only once before, but there are several on this show. They're played to alert you to recordings and appearances by Vince Giordano's Nighthawks, Richard Dowling and Frederick Hodges. Thanks for listening and supporting these fine artists.
