You can be a victim of circumstance or you can overcome and use it as motivation. This is what Arizona State University athletic director Ray Anderson has done for Arizona State Sun Devils football. Anderson and others have created a self-imposed postseason ban on Sun Devils football for the 2023 season thanks to the recruiting violations that Herm Edwards, Antonio Pierce, and others long gone from the program committed. Kenny Dillingham and countless new faces to the program both on staff and players are being punished for the sins of others and there may not be any more motivation than this for this program to play their best football. The players and coaches will have some whiteboard/billboard material to motivate each other to prove Anderson and others wrong. They will have that "nothing to lose mentality" in 2023 as they receive no pity from anybody. But these guys will need the fans to buy in, as well. We all have a common enemy now and a reason to show our support more than ever.
