This week we take a look at long covid, ….. the effects on the building and renovation industry which ,we think are starting to ripple through the community.
In this episode we make a call to our Block builder, Jason Charles, to get his insights into what’s happening, and what the future looks like for renovators in Australia!
With the impacts on freight, and the effects of the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, the cost of materials for building and renovation are skyrocketing. The impact is being felt by builders and in turn has to be passed on to their clients.
In recent months we’ve seen the collapse of building companies in Queensland, WA, Tasmania, Victoria and it’s likely there are more to come.
Right now, it’s almost impossible to have builders provide fixed quotes for jobs, as material costs are so volatile.
‘Long Covid’ is not just a physical phenomenon, but it has emotional, social and economic impact as well. Physical and mental fatigue can set in, so right now looking after our community's mental health is so important.
Kindness counts and our builders and tradies are trying to survive in a dynamically changing environment. Also, remember there are services available if you need support.

We’ve had lots of questions come in from listeners, so this week we share our thoughts and experience with flipping properties and answer three of our most frequently asked questions.

•   Can you make money flipping….well, yes…and no….? We share our approach to the property flipping ‘business’. What do we consider when approaching a project, and what is ‘manufactured growth’? From our perspective, you make your money when you buy your flip-project, not when you sell!

•   Mitch often talks about ‘reducing the apologies’ in a property. We’re asked what that actually means, and how do you do it. We share a couple of examples of how an ‘apology’ in a property we bought, became an opportunity to create added value where other potential buyers couldn’t see it.
