To call Saturday's loss to the Eastern Michigan Eagles football program would be one of the greatest understatements in the history of Arizona State Sun Devils football. The Sun Devils were 20+ point favorites and had crushed another smaller program in NAU to start the season 40-3. Coming off a 34-17 loss to Oklahoma State, there was little reason to think that Arizona State was going to lay an egg against a small school like Eastern Michigan, but alas that is exactly what happened. The Sun Devils got taken behind the woodshed by Samson Evans and the Eagles and lost at home 30-21. The loss was so bad, in fact, that head coach Herm Edwards was relieved of his duties as early as Sunday afternoon. The Arizona State Sun Devils football team has now been put into flux and a seemingly endless free fall that will make this a tough season to get through. While we don't want to begin our "the end is nigh" chants on Mill Ave., there are a lot of important conversations that need to be had regarding the state and future of the Arizona State Sun Devils football program.
