The Cincinnati Reds edged out the Cleveland Guardians 1-0 Tuesday night at Progressive Field behind a masterful performance from Andrew Abbott, who tossed his first career complete game shutout. Abbott allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out five. The Reds' defense was equally impressive, with highlight-reel catches from Jake Fraley and TJ Friedl, and a clutch 9th-inning double play turned by Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, and Spencer Steer. Steer also delivered the game’s only run, driving in Will Benson—who has made a habit of tormenting his former team. Cincinnati now looks to complete both the series and season sweep on Wednesday while extending their win streak to six games.
