  • Episode 336: May the 5 Be With You
This week the Regular Joes have a full house as the regular Regulars are joined by Derryl DePriest and Brian Mix to observe the annual Star Wars holiday/marketing ploy. They have a lot to talk about as Disney+ has just wrapped up the Clone Wars for a third and seemingly final time. Warning, there will be SPOILERS, but really, if you haven't watched Clone Wars previously nothing they talk about will make any sense to you anyway blah blah blah Ahsoka, blah blah blah Darth Vader, blah blah blah, repeat. Then, because Star Wars is the one topic about which all fans agree, they engage in a series a spirited discussions about their favorite characters, Droids and other stuff, as well as lengthy prognostications on the impact of 40 plus years of narrative on two of Star Wars most iconic figures. There's also What's in The Box, and a sampling of Random Topics. Disclaimer: a not insignificant amount of alcohol was consumed during this episode resulting in a somewhat rambling discourse and at least one ill advised criticism of J.J. Abrams. Thanks for listening, Say Safe, and May The Fourth Be With You!

  • Episode 335: Trek-Listing
Ok, so whether you have watched a single episode, or seen all 787 installments in the Star Trek franchise, it will come as no surprise that everyone has an opinion about the quintessential American Sci Fi series. This week the Regular Joes wade in to the nerdiest of nerd exercises and run down their individual top ten lists of favorite characters from the eight TV shows and three film series. As you would expect, there is some agreement, some disagreement and a few surprises at who leaves who out of their respective lists. And, just because the world isn't already surreal enough, the Joes each pick their favorite song from 1980's footnote Band Survivor. They also cover the usual Random Topics, and once again take the cardboard plunge with What's in the Box. Thanks for listening and Stay safe!

  • Episode 334: Regular JoeCon
Taking some time out from simply talking about what they are watching on TV, the Regular Joes sit down with Bill Nedrow who recently published The Joy of JoeCon, a collection of essays reflecting on the history and resonance of the long running International G.I. Joe Collectors Club Convention or JoeCon. After that they talk about stuff they bought (What's in the Box) and reviving their very first recurring segment (Desert Island DVD) ignore the reality that you can now stream most anything, and pick what Video comfort food they would choose, or recommend. Cheer up folks the curve is flattening! Thanks for listening and Stay safe!

  • Episode 333: 3 Guys Sit Down and Hit Record
Yes, It's our landmark 333rd episode, we are half way to the rather ominous episode 666 and a third of the way to being one episode from 1000. For this week's episode we do what we have done most weeks over the last six years. Just three friends sitting down and talking. We cover some random topics, catch up on our most recent projects in What's on My Workbench, and because we have taken it upon ourselves to single handedly prop up the U.S. economy, we throw in a round of What's in the Box. Nothing new, exciting or unusual here folks. And honestly, isn't a little normal nice for a change. Thanks for listening, and stay safe!

  • Episode 332: I'm your Huckleberry - A Podcast
Val Kilmer films are like ice cream, everyone has a favorite flavor. And, as some might say, there's no accounting for taste. This week our five hosts, yes that's five, as Brian Mix is back and Derryl DePriest drops in to discuss three of Val Kilmer's very different films. Note: Mr. Kilmer was invited but was unable to attend due to a prior engagement, and ... likely his dignity. First on deck is Kilmer's first film role, Top Secret (not to be confused with Top Gun) Zucker and Abraham's spoof/mash up of espionage films and, yes, Elvis Movies from 1984. Next it's the box office winner of the three, from 1988, Ron Howard's fantasy epic Willow. While opinions differ greatly on this particular film, when you first saw Willow is clearly a large factor in how you feel about it. Lastly, the low hanging fruit of Val Kilmer films, Tombstone, the 1993 western where Kilmer's portrayal of dandy gunfighter gambler Doc Holiday eclipses his costars, the film's historical subject, and possibly the entire state of Arizona. They also throw in a round of Val Kilmer related Show and Tell in their ongoing effort to give you an hour or so each week where your are not simply pondering where your next roll of toilet paper is coming from.

  • Episode 331: Locutus of Boring
The first season of CBS All Access' Star Trek Picard has wrapped and the Regular Joe's call in their west coast correspondent (and positronics expert) Brian Mix to help assess the series. This is Trek unlike anything we have ever seen, but is it good Trek? Opinions vary. You will be surprised at who rates it the lowest. They also take a post series look at Apple TV's For all Mankind, the alternate history take on NASA's Apollo Space Program era. They also toss in a few Random Topics, and work in a round of Space and/or Star Trek themed Show and Tell. Thanks for listening and stay safe!

  • Episode 330: Creepy Clowns vs. Killer Robots
This week the Regular Joes take a look at the first episodes of three very different series airing right now. First up is season Eight of Showtime's Homeland. Is it worth returning "home" if you, like so many, dropped the long running spy thriller after, or during the abysmal 6th season? Then we move on to the oddly close to home reality of Epix War of The Worlds (not to be confused with (The War of The Worlds.) does this British/French updating of H.G. Wells most adapted story do a better job than it's immediate predecessor? An hour in do we care? Lastly we return to HBO's Westworld for a third season premiere that bears little resemblance to what has gone before. Unless having no freaking idea what is happening now qualifies as a theme. All this plus Random Topics, What's in the Box's and your opportunity to see a lovingly rendered painting that haunted Dave's childhood at regularJoes.com Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 329: Open Belly Instructions
With not much else to do but watch TV, the Regular Joes share some of their recommendations for a good Binge Watch, while practicing the art of social distancing of course. As usual, they don't entirely agree with each other, but what fun would it be if they did! All this, plus the usual round of Random Topics and What's in the Box. As always, thanks for listening, and stay safe out there!

  • Episode 328: Trolling Stone
The Rolling Stone just released a list of the top 50 films of the 1970's. Does it make our hosts grumpy old men to say people who were not even born in the 1970s probably shouldn't be picking out the best films from that era? Needless to say the Regular Joe's disagree. Truthfully, they don't entirely agree with each other, but at least they didn't try to shoehorn a bunch of pretentious crap in their list the way the Rolling Stone writers did. They also take time out to discuss the final Black Widow trailer. SPOILERS no one takes issue with that. There's also a round of What's in the Box and the usual Random Topics. Thanks for listening, and stay safe out there!
