Today we’re joined by Libby Emmons, editor in chief of the The Post Millennial, to discuss the ethics of surrogacy. We discuss Libby’s political journey from liberal feminist to more conservative in thought, as well as her background in theater and how the art landscape has changed from a focus on beauty to a focus on activism. We discuss how surrogacy is merely a fulfillment of adult desires to obtain posterity and legacy, with no thought given to the horrible effects it can have on the child, and compare it to adoption (which many surrogacy apologists argue is ethically the same). A medical journal has recently suggested that brain-dead women could serve as surrogates for those looking to rent a womb, which is yet another example of the horrifying ethics of the surrogacy industry. We discuss this and reiterate that consent-based morality is neither ethical nor sustainable for society. We also discuss the story of a Yale professor who has argued that mass euthanasia for the elderly would solve Japan's aging-population burdens, further proof that the value of humans is in question.

Today we're talking about the "Asbury Revival," currently taking place at Asbury University in Kentucky. Last week, after a regular weekly chapel service at the university, students didn't leave. Instead, they continued worshiping and have not stopped for over 130 hours and counting. There have been reports of people traveling cross-country to experience this unplanned event, and many have claimed it's unlike other "revivals" that have left some skeptical. We cover the important questions that need to be asked, such as whether the gospel is actually being preached and what kind of teaching is happening in the midst of worship. We provide some encouragement and challenge for Asbury students, who have the potential to use this "revival" for God's glory even after it's over. Then, we take a look at Chelsea Handler's obsession with being childless. While guest-hosting "The Daily Show" last week, Handler did both a monologue and a skit about how "free" she is because she doesn't have kids, and she was ... really trying hard to convince us. We break down how sad it is that she feels a need to berate motherhood and children in her tirade and explain why her argument that she can do whatever she wants could very well also be true right now even if she had had children.

Today we're discussing the 'He Gets Us' campaign, as promised! The $100 million advertising campaign seeks to promote Jesus and Christianity through TV spots in prime time, billboards, and social media feeds. These ads portray Jesus as a refugee, an activist, and an influencer, among other characteristics, and aim to communicate his relatability to modern problems (ultimately leading people to the "He Gets Us" site). Two of these ads ran in last night's Super Bowl and made big waves among Christians and non-Christians. One of the problems with the campaign is its claims about Jesus, which are not entirely accurate and/or are missing important context. The campaign does not align with any specific denomination or doctrine, but rather seeks to partner with churches and organizations who can use its resources for outreach. We discuss the major concerns of the campaign, but also highlight some of the good that can come from it. It's exciting to see a campaign like "He Gets Us" put big money behind helping people connect with Jesus, and we've already heard good stories of people hearing the gospel, but we can still remain wary of some of the campaign's messages that lack context and historical accuracy.

Today we're talking about Andy Stanley's latest controversy after he said in a conference speech that gay churchgoers seem to have a lot more faith than straight ones. We explain why the language Stanley uses, as well as his dismissal of scripture (calling relevant verses "clobber passages"), is ultimately unloving, as it dismisses the need for repentance for both this lifestyle and the reliance upon "sexual identity." We break down exactly what he said in his speech and give some background info on Stanley's history of controversy. In 2018, Stanley found himself in hot water after he undermined the authority of scripture in a speech, claiming that Christians should "unhitch" from the Old Testament. And ultimately, if Andy Stanley believes he can do a better job of reaching people than God can, or believes that God is too harsh, then we should call this out. Then, we're joined by Jacob Kersey, a former police officer who made headlines last week after he was put on leave for refusing to take down a social media post expressing his Christian views on same-sex marriage. He decided to resign after he was told he was not allowed to post "offensive" beliefs on his personal social media, and he's now speaking out about the importance of being an outspoken and bold believer.
